Bill O'Brien is not a joke of a coach. Let him decide who he surrounds himself with and see what happens. Until that time let's take a wait-and-see approach. I agree with you as far as RAC is concerned. The players respect him and would obviously lend him more of an ear once he returns to the sidelines. You can't put Vrable in the same sentence with Romeo. That's like saying that you think Bill Romanowsky would be a better defense of coach than Howie long. I'm using the Raiders for an example because we are talking about two former patriots
If you were a better poster, you'd probably take a look at when the tweet was sent and if you were even of average intelligence you'd probably realize that Orlovsky was talking about the QB's getting hurt in the Steelers game and the many other QB's that have ended up concussed or otherwise injured playing in BOB's system. Bringing up one QB who got hurt in practice doesn't take away from what he said. Yeah he really, really is. Again, he does NOTHING well as a coach. He doesn't coach defense, he doesn't coach special teams, and he's proven to be incompetent at coaching offense unless there is a QB good enough to overcome his awful play calling. Short of having an absolutely elite QB that can overcome the hole BOB puts them in, he's a below average to terrible offensive coach. It's great that the players like BOB, but it would be better if they liked him AND he was competent at coaching any aspect of football.
Give O'Brien a clean slate in 2018 and see how the players produce on the field for him because that's what it's all about. It's not necessarily the plays that Bill has called, but it's the execution on the field that has been on unacceptable.

I'm pointing out these reports are lies and the media is soft. That's it. I'm not living and dying by it, I'm trying to find correct info but respected media members are reported this crap as fact
The plays BOB has called have been unacceptable and there's no other way to see it. The fact that years later he still doesn't seem to realize that Lamar Miller isn't a between the tackles power back just shows the extent of his incompetence but that's nowhere near the only example. He's always been a train wreck when it comes to calling plays and managing the clock. Watson was good enough to overcome most of this, but BOB managed to be awful enough to make the team only 3-3 in those games despite Watson playing at an absolutely elite level. He's simply that incompetent. Again, point to something he does well other than dupe certain fans into defending him.
He puts players in position that helps them succeed the most. He is also a great communicator and leader within the group. Players would not only take a bullet for him, they would take multiple hits, and that is good enough for me. Of course the X's O's and game management would also benefit O'Brien by putting Romeo back on the field. Do you know where I can find hard knocks Texans training camp? Obviously, I'm looking to get reenergized. Lol
Ah, yeah, like how he uses Lamar Miller as a between the tackles power back and keeps plays where he'd receive the ball in space to a minimum? Brilliant. I just don't see him putting players in positions to succeed given that the Texans offense has done nothing but get worse year after year with him here and him getting the players he wants on offense....the only reason this season wasn't worse than the year before was due to Watson being good enough to overcome BOB setting him up for failure. I think it's great that players like BOB, but that doesn't really matter given that he's not competent to coach any aspect of the game. When getting players to like you while you make the team worse and worse is your only skill, you don't belong coaching anything.
Thanks for the correction JR I've been in debate mode today with Bobby the great and my mind is going faster than my hands. Larry
And yet you often bring up similar reports that happen to support your viewpoint.... why aren't they lies as well? And yes, when 90% of your posts in this thread are in regards to "leaks", tweets, bringing up old quotes, bringing up media games... you are essentially living/dying with each report.
The impression I got is that Romeo is half retired... him being "promoted" (ala Rick Smith) wasn't necessarily a tactical decision.
Was that him or was that the other coaches he had working on it with him ever since he declared for the draft? I honestly don't know but without some kind of evidence suggesting that was the case, I don't think we can give BOB credit for it.....also let's not overlook the crazy amount of work Watson had to put in with whomever was helping him out in order to fix those things as well as he did as quickly as he did. If I had to guess, I would think BOB spent most of his time working with his chosen starter instead of extensively working with the guy he wanted as a backup but again, there's no way of knowing.
What is my viewpoint? I want both Rick and O'Brien gone because I don't think they are good at their jobs. I want them to build a good front office and coaching staff like the Rockets and Astros have done. I don't support any side because none of the sides currently in the org are any good.
And yet you’re still here 24/7... like most of the texans fans on the season ticket waiting list. Unlike baseball (need a strong farm system, which can take years) or basketbll (need multiple superstars)... you can win in the NFL in a variety of ways. You do need a QB (typically)... let’s hope the really hard part is done, presuming he stays healthy.
