Kubes + Smith = Perennial Underachieving Mediocrity Kubes + Elway = Perennial favorites & SB Champions BOB + Smith = Perennial Underachieving Mediocrity BOB + ? = ? Do you see a pattern here...
Not true, Eagles gave Chip Kelly total control and it worked for great at the start then the wheels fell off.
This made me go look up past drafts, and just reminded me of the time the Vikings traded up to snag Bridgewater right before us. Than we take XSF instead of Derek Carr. Garropolo also went that draft. Ugh Oh well. We have Deshaun now
Now I've gone off on a Kubiak reminiscent tangent - pretty amazing we led the league in passing in a season where Kevin Walter was our second best skill-position player. The Kubiak/Schaub duo was seriously underrated.
I feel like the Head Coach either needs to be calling the shots, or the GM and HC have to be so on the same page they're indistinguishable. It's not a coincidence the Patriots and Seahawks constantly draft and evaluate talent better than anyone else. And their castoffs never seem to overachieve on other teams. When scouting players, you have to bear in mind how they fit the system.
While I agree with you that Rick Smith sucks a lot and needs to be fired yesterday, Kubiak did build a pretty good team here. And the offense was almost always pretty good.
Yeah, I agree. It's a shame Schaub got hurt then Rick Smith consolidated power for himself. Otherwise I could still see Kubiak here with one of the best offenses ever year.
I actually feel sorry for Rick Smith...its like being married to a woman with borderline personality. All these teams that supposedly desire OBrien better factor in his manipulative ways before giving him a fat contract.
"He is going to have the biggest ripple effect as far as the coaching community. I do believe he would be Arizona's first choice; In Detroit... Bob Quinn is interested in him; In Tennessee if the losing streak continues, Jon Robinson will be interested in hiring him; It makes you wonder, why would you let him go if you know 3 teams would come after him?" "You and I know he is going to be employed quickly, but think about the QBs/jobs that might be available: Luck, Trubisky, Winston, Mariota, Carr, Stafford... there's going to be some really attractive jobs out there." Jets, Giants too.
Clearly, this BBS knows more than guys who do this for a living and actually talk with people involved in these decisions. If Kubiak could get another HC job after the 2-14 debacle here, BOB will get another chance (or be retained here) simply due to the Watson record-setting surge, let alone how he's viewed by his coordinators (who have connections to other coaches) and his players.
I don't think anyone knows. This isn't exactly info teams want to get out there. Heck, teams might not even be sure until they do interviews It just smells of Obrien minions leaking again
