He's on local sports radio. And he's been to 2 Super Bowls and got himself a ring. Doesn't fit the narrative, does it? Perhaps you should stop listening to Teflon Rick's minions and listen to those who know more about pro football than you do. You guys ran Kubiak out of town and he won a Super Bowl. The constant of constant sorrow in Houston is Rick Smith, the guy you're defending.
I'm not defending Rick Smith, I'm attacking BOB. I've been on the Fire Smith bandwagon for over 4 years now. Either one of them blaming the other for the Texans' problems makes me laugh, as they are both demonstrably terrible at their jobs.
I think obrien stays and gets extended. He basically did a complete culture makeover when he came with new equipment changing the weight room I think they even put in a octagon. Team first on the locker room just a complete culture makeover even as far as getting the team bigger faster and stronger then it was under kubiak. Playing music at practice etc.
I once worked for a guy who took over a debt collection business that had been "underperforming". At the first management meeting he had the senior managers go to the white board one by one and list 5-10 things being done by their more successful competitors. He then asked each one point blank "Then why aren't we doing the same thing?" If they couldn't answer the question or if their answers were not to his satisfaction, they were instantly dismissed from the company. This is what needs to be done with the ENTIRE Houston Texans Front Office - coaching, scouting - EVERYONE. Clueless Bob is going to have to decide what's more important: owning a winning football operation or imitating Donald Trump. It's well past time for him to pull his head out of his ass and do what he's been so unable to do - put together a successful football operation. The reality is, however, that thanks to the NFL, he doesn't have to do squat as NRG stadium is always full of football fans wearing their $100 jerseys (with a long waiting list for season tickets) for whom winning just isn't all that important and Bob, Rick and Billy all know this.
I guess having the best offense in the NFL with a rookie QB isn't enough to show you know offense now. I decided to check the last page of this thread just to see if it had sunk as far as I thought it probably did and sure enough it didn't disappoint.
I think it's adorable that you are BOB's biggest fan. I mean, sure I can't really take you seriously as a result, but it's still funny.
Texans offense under BOB in his first 3 seasons 14th ranked in points, 17th ranked in yards 21st ranked in points, 19th ranked in yards 28th ranked in points, 29th ranked in yards The ONLY thing that has EVER made BOB look competent even for a few games in his entire career when it comes to running an offense has been Watson....a Rick Smith guy.
https://www.si.com/nfl/2017/12/28/nfl-coaches-black-monday-firings-hirings Houston Texans: Simply, a reckoning is coming here. I’d be floored if O’Brien even considered signing an extension without changes to the way the football operation is aligned, and 2018 is a contract year for him. That would create a decision point for ownership—go forward for a year with a coach that would be the No. 1 guy on the market if free, or cut the cord now and move forward with GM Rick Smith.
Why do these journalists mindlessly repeat that O'Brien would be the #1 coach on the market? What are they basing it on?
You have to remember McNair is close with kraft and kraft was the one who recommended obrien to McNair. I think McNair thinks highly of obrien. And let’s all not act like obrien isnt a smart man he knows what he’s doing. And don’t think Mr.Smith won’t do anything that McNair says just to stay in his good graces.
I’m getting the feeling that BOB is gone after the season. Rick Smith should be gone as well. He’s great at evaluating first round talent but sucks at pretty much everything else.
