What has "the offense running smoothly" gotten us the last few games . If we can't stop anybody it doesn't matter if the spacing looks good . Hustle , d the **** up , and get some fastbreak points ... Let James carry you on offense , have a player get hot . Black is capable on offense , even if there are a few miscues . Dantoni believes in his system and that's great , but his inflexibility is a major concern
I think it's good and interesting you brought up who played in 2014-15. thx for that. And most of us do remember Black filling in well for an injured Dwight in December. recall though, Dwight missed 41 games. So, we are talking about the 2nd and 3rd string C getting a lot of minutes due to injury. And Black got traded mid-season, and TJ missed 50 games, so in Howard's second stint on disabled list, McHale had just DMo, Josh and Dorsey in the rotation for 2 positions...so Dorsey was forced to play. (Capela was a rookie, btw.) And then DMo went down at the end of the year. I think MDA plays Black in similar role to how McHale used him....the Dwight (41 games) and TJones (50-ish) injuries in 2015 make it appear differently. MDA has played Black equal minutes to Nene when Nene rests. Black overall 9mpg are artificially deflated, because in games that he should have DNP'd on a Nene night, he got put in at garbage time for 2 to 4 minutes. If those were DNP's as planned, his MPG would more accurately show MDA's rotation of only 2 centers play per game, and the backup gets about 15. It's really only one game MDA didn't play him much when Nene rested (not counting opening night vs GSW). We'll see if that continues.
Well you heard it here first: Onuaku is about to show the world he's on Clint Capela's level Seriously though, I think the kid is ready for 15 mins a night and far more NBA ready than Joe Chee. Totally different game than Capela - not much above the rim, more about positioning his body, better passer. Call. Him. UP!
Until Draymond Green kicks him in the nuts twice..then he is soft as charmin tissue paper. P.S. Capela obviously doesn't want a big contract nxt season. Supposed to become injury prone after the big deal.
I don't understand why the injuries in 14-15 are different than the injuries now ? ( as far as PT for backups goes ) If what you are saying is that Mike plays a traditional C less than McHale , then I agree. But I think it's a mistake to do that , especially when players are out . I think going in our 1-2-3 of Clint , Nene , and black was considered a strength of the roster. I think there have been situations this year where it would appear that players are out and Mike "will be forced" to play a backup some minutes . What he often does instead is shuffle the lineup around and plays small While that is probably a better lineup, it is also a move I disagree with for several reasons. Mostly due to minutes strain but also because of the lack of a hard-rolling threat . I get what you are saying ( that's Dwight and TJ had long-term injuries ) but Dwight missed games in multiple stretches . It might look like what Cp3 is going through this year. It seems Dantoni has adjusted a bit and is starting to play Weber more. My overall point from the first post is that I don't think "talent" is the reason the end of the bench isn't playing much. Becuase any of these guys ( given opportunity & especially if on the floor with harden) can produce and contribute to wins . I think Mike just relies more on his established rotation than other coaches . It's frustrating because even if players are only going to be out for a short while , you'd love to see another guy get the opportunity instead of rotation players having to pick up the slack ... And when multiple players go out ... It feels a bit like a cycle.
This is Steven Adams' sister. I don't think many humans will win a head-butting match with members of the Adams family.
Steven Adams is better than Clint Capela. Having said that, Clint is still huge for the Rockets. His defense has improved and he is extremely efficient on offense.
http://www.chron.com/sports/rockets...Capela-to-miss-at-least-two-more-12457042.php Capela was limping after Monday's game, but the Rockets hope that by sitting out the rest of the week, he might be able to play with a mask and that the time off would help with his heel injury. "He's going to be out a couple games," D'Antoni said. "We need to hold serve until we get our guys back. They said he can play with a mask on. The swelling will go down in a couple of days. The other one (the heel injury) is about pain tolerance. Hopefully, the with the three or four days he has to rest, that gets better." "He got hit, but he didn't know what it was until after the game," D'Antoni said. "It's weird because he said during the game, he didn't even know it. He was fine. He had no clue that anything was wrong." With Capela out, Nene could return to the starting lineup. Nene has averaged 7.2 points and 3.3 rebounds. In the past three games, he has made 4 of 15 shots. Nene has usually been held out of one game when the Rockets play back-to-backs, but the Celtics and Wizards both start physical centers (Aron Baynes and Marcin Gortat) making it especially difficult for the Rockets to be shorthanded at center. D'Antoni said Nene can play both games in the back-to-back, but that he would likely limit him to time against physical centers to limit his overall playing time. "We're going through a period, we had good luck at first and now we're having bad luck," D'Antoni said. "We just have to deal with it. It's all part of a long season. We just have to hang in there."
called it, 5 game lose streak here we go. At least this will force D'antoni to play some benchwarmers. Briante wasn't all bad last game, he showed a lot of hustle. He just needs to improve his offensive game to fit the system. I've read some interviews with ex-Suns players in the D'antoni system. It's basically a system where anyone can succeed because D'antoni gives everyone the green light to shoot it, you just have to make the shot.
Considering how good we know this Rockets team can be, it really sucks how they are/will be hemorrhaging Losses because of these injuries and a non-rotation group that is insufficient to step up and adequately replace them. Forget the #1 seed. How fast will the 2nd seed disappear into the 3rd seed?
