Harden did shoot poorly from the field though -- .411 FG / .240 3PT

He's a great player, but his game suffers in crunch time and in the postseason. Paul's skills and leadership bode well for the future.

Wrong. Part of the problem is we have all these posters who don't recognize what he brings to our team.

No one says he is perfect. Does he have his flaws? Absolutely. Can there be plays or quarters or sometimes entire games where he is frustrating to watch? Of course. Are there areas that we wish he would improve in? Undoubtedly.

But still, he's one of the top 5 players in the league. He has transformed the Rockets' franchise. He has played at a legitimate MVP, best player in the league, kind of level for multiple years for us. Almost any other team in the league would die to trade for him.

Look at other stars in the league. He has accomplished so much more and carried his teams more than other players such as Lillard, Wall, Davis, Cousins, Giannis, Westbrook (without Durant), George (on the Pacers), Butler, Towns, Hayward....

I can understand if someone wants to say they think Paul is better than he is. I disagree but I don't care about arguing about that and am just glad they are both on our team

He's good at guarding Harden. He also has a huge weakness (shooting, free throw shooting) that we can exploit to get him off the court. Not worried about the Thunder in a series, especially with Paul and Luc

I don't understand all of the posters on this forum constantly ragging on James Harden.
As if he is a BIG problem with our team.
So, would they rather we just trade him for someone 'better'? Just who would that be?
James is one of the top 5 players in the league.

Harden is one of the most efficient scorers in the NBA. Not to mention a top facilitator.
Every player has their strengths and weaknesses. But some of these posters just constantly whine about his weaknesses.
Look at our record. We're at the top of the NBA largely BECAUSE OF James Harden.
If you want Harden traded, then seek out the player you would rather have and go to THAT TEAM's
forum and follow that player and take all of your angst with you.
We want you to be happy. We ALL want to be happy. So go and revel with your 'favorite' team and 'favorite' player
    wherever that may be

Agree, we played a shity game last night and it was decided by 5 points.

WB was happy last night and was mocking us the last 2 minutes, lol the dude is a ****ing loser, he has 2 all star players on his team and they barley beat us, am praying we see them in playoffs so we can beat the **** out of them.

This version of Thunder will prolly take us to 6 when everybody is healthy.

If CP got a nagging injury it's gotta be a lot closer. If you wish that, it'll be no cake walk. Team will be gassed a tad. We will play a 7-8 man rotation again.

They are one heck of a defensive team and we have more fire power for sure but in the playoffs every team is not shooting their usual best every game.

That's a fair assessment, and hell, the Thunder might even win. I'd still rather much have the Thunder as a 2nd round opponent than San Antonio though.

They are the number 1 defensive team if am not mistaken, right..?? but the thing they have no identity, there is no set system that they stick to, their offense is based on Iso and fastbreak points, assuming we have CP3, tucker, and Mbah moute healthy come playoff time, I truly think we can finish them in 5 games.

HELL TO THE NAW BRUH, like I mentioned in my previous post if we have everyone healthy there is no chance in hell they'll beat us and you can quote me on that.

They are probably the most predictable team in the NBA

I don't get what all the backlash is on the post. Roberson has always defended James well. Sometimes superstars have those matchups that they struggle against and they destroy great defenders that other superstars struggle against. Basketball is a game of matchups after all and certain players do well against the skillset and tendencies of a guy like Harden. Not very many do in this league because Harden is that good, but there are a few, one of them being Roberson, and I suppose you could throw PG in there too. Heck, I could be super wrong about this statswise, but I feel like even a guy like JJ Reddick somehow guards harden well, and he doesn't fit the mold of what a prototypical "harden-stopper" should be.

But it's all rather ridiculous anyway. We were without cp3 and luc, running 3rd stringers to give our guys a breather, who have not really gotten any regularly significant minutes before this game, and we lost by 5 to three allstars that had an "on game." With Harden getting hounded by Roberson and their entire team focusing to shut him down. it's pretty impressive.

Just sad to see cp3 not playing, who knows if the rotations we had going would have freed up harden to go off and close out the thunder and bow in front of westbrook. But it goes back to what we've known all along with the previous season, if we bank everything on Harden for all 48 min, the man is a human being who will fatigue and it'll show most noticeably on the defensive end. Credit to him for keeping his turnovers down though. Seriously impressive, given that their entire team was geared to help on him.

It's been stated before / well-known that Roberson plays good defense, on Harden. OP comes in here, posting stats and stuff to back up an already-known claim right after a loss just to rile up the fan base.

I mean, what other superstar that is either shorter than Roberson and/or has a smaller wingspan than Roberson, wouldn't have trouble? I'm sure the stats for Irving, Lillard, Beal, etc, aren't great either, when Roberson is defending them.

Don't get me wrong - I appreciate the poster doing some research, but the OP content could have gone into the game thread for OKC, versus being its individual thread.

The fact that he can fool non-basketball people into making it seem like the defense isn't even trying when he scored 50 is incredible.

    James for MVP

Agreed on all counts. The sad part is, his "research" is essentially useless because of how biased it is. If there's no context in regards to defense, like the fact that Harden was guarded by at least 4 different players last game, it paints an incomplete, and extremely misleading, picture to fans that didn't watch the game.

Hopefully this poster can use his time more constructively to paint a more accurate picture next time he posts, so he can actually receive some real feedback, and improve as an analyst.

they cry because they don't know what they have until it's gone. Give it 10 years and the next Superstar we have and they will belt on him next as well

Fair point. If that indeed was the point of making this thread, then ya, pretty lame. Why does it always have to be about these lame wars and creating Harden-lovers and Harden-haters?

Clearly that is not the case considering that Harden's efficiency and effectiveness on offense has been consistently improving practically every single season he's been in the NBA... And Harden was about as good in the 4th as he was the rest of the game. IIRC, he had like 8 pts in the 4th.

Harden vs stout defensive teams. Don't lie to yourself, you already know the result beforehand. Horrible shooting + ridiculous amount of turnovers. It's like a clockwork at this point.

Only has good shooting games against subpar teams. You know it's true.

When guarded by a dude name DORT, James Harden has a TS% of 39%. Thats TS% not FG%. credit to reddit user cedi osman.

First Roberston is 2017 and now Dort. Whats with OKC and their Harden stoppers.
