Current competition committee members include Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle, Clippers coach Doc Rivers, San Antonio Spurs general manager R.C. Buford, Oklahoma City Thunderexecutive vice president and general manager Sam Presti, Toronto Raptors general manager Masai Ujiri, Miami Heat CEO Nick Arison and Golden State Warriors co-executive chairman and CEO Joe Lacob.

Not hard to see why this particular group would want Harden officiated differently.
I’m sure Doc Rivers was reminding the refs of the the Harden rules that he had helped come up with the other day.

i'm saying that he's been following posts typing 'media conspiracy' or whatever for weeks now. i'm actually giving him the benefit of the doubt thinking he probably has a lot more to offer in terms of something interesting and insightful to add to discussions here than this crap

Zoplicone.....Clutchfan’s resident naysayer. With swyyguy right there in the mix.

It is still painful to lose to the g.d. Clippers, but God knows, the Rockets should have known if there is any team in the league out there that wants to stick it to them, that will wake up from a deep slumber because they set their alarm for a certain date circled on the calendar with the word written next to it “KILL”, well......now we go short-handed against a team that only seems to get it up against good competition. On national TV no less.

You keep saying this, but the protest has nothing to do with Harden Rules. Are you saying that you actually believe the other owners will relish and not sympathize with anything the officiating does to screw Morey and his Rockets, Even if it means collectively downvoting and unliking the same protest that Pat Riley succeeded in getting (one year removed from winning with a foul-magnet Dwayne Wade).

You actually believe in such a conspiracy? Or just "literally" believe in it (high five @hakeem94 for the comic strip)

This protest will act in favor of all owners/GMs who want to spotlight bad officiating by making the media talk about an embarrassing redo.

    And Merry Christmas, Yo

what does that have to do with the Prtoest and my post? The Competition Committie will nit be voting on whether the league office hands down the same judegement for the Rockets as they gave Miami in 2007.

    And Merry Christmas

Wait what? How are competition committee members also team operations folk? Seems like a huge conflict of interest.

I don’t think these particular owners/executives, who went to this length to make a rule to stop Harden would be subsequently encouraging Morey to take a stand against the refereeing.

Maybe some others do though. We will probably not find out.

And Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all of CF!

I rather they replay the 3 mins instead of us taking the loss and moving on. You never know what that one loss can mean for us later on the season. We can get separated in standings with one win. Never know. The game made me mad. He should of fouled out instead staying in the game to make the plays he did.

Oh, any construction of the committee comprised of team employees/owners would have conflict of interests. The only alternative is to do all of this within the league office only. And note, the committee just makes recommendations of changes. The Board of Governors (ie owners) vote to implement.

fwiw: up until 2013, the committee was comprised of all 30 GMs. They changed it probably because it was too hard to get them all together. Still, the smaller more nimble group (I always favor smaller groups for change management) acting like a congressional sub-committee, just makes recommendations. The composition added owners to the committee, coaches and a Player Union Rep. I don't see how that is bad. Willing to bet had that topic of changing the composition of the committee been an NBA Dish thread in 2012, the consensus would be adding Owners, Coaches and the Union to the committee is a good thing.

The committee was previously 30 GMs. There was no owners on it. It's been around for quite awhile. And the Board of Governors still vote to implement. Committees only recommend.

They changed it because they wanted to get Owners, Coaches and Union on it.

Previously, the competition committee was comprised of the general managers from each of the league’s 30 teams. But last month, the league’s Board of Governors voted to change the composition of the committee to include two owners, four general managers, three head coaches and one representative from the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA).

“The board decided that the inclusion of owners and head coaches on the Competition Committee would add valuable perspectives to discussions about our game and how it might be improved,” said Joel Litvin, NBA president of league operations. “At the same time, we will continue to receive input on competition and rules matters from all 30 teams through the General Managers Committee.”
