At end of Ragnarok, I am guessing a beat up Thor is back on Earth trying to get help to help take on Thanos.
I loved the movie. Didn't love how they turned drax into an all out comedian. Where was his "I must kill thanos" attitude? Hopefully we see that in infinity war
It was good. The Tazer face jokes were cringeworthy. Once again Michael Rooker knows how to go out with a big bang, just like he did in TWD. I wanted to see Ronan or Thanos put hands on someone.
Spoiler Don't think this is considered a "mention" but when Rocket/Yandu were warp jumping, there was a glimpse of a race of rock people fighting and one of those things from that race appears in Planet Hulk.
Love Vol 2 just about as much as the first one, and it's because I feel this franchise provides a distinctly different perspective to the basic superhero plot structure we see in all the other Marvel movies. So many awesome characters that drive the movie forward with crass and toughness yet also quite a bit of warmth and sentimentality. Never takes itself too seriously either and to top it off its fueled by some killer music. While I'd say Winter Soldier and Civil War are probably overall the best films in the Marvel universe, GOTG are my favorites. They're just a helluva !of of fun.
I would imagine it builds a lot of the events leading up to Infinity War. Remember the post credit scene of Dr Strange? Spoiler I wonder if Dr. Strange makes an appearance in the last act Ragnarok to help Thor find Odin.
9.5/10 Love this movie, I love this more than the first one. In fact I think this one should have been the first one and the first should be the nonlinear prequel sequel that steers the story towards Thanos for the third movie. The only issue I had was that I wanted to see "Blood-thirsty Drax" and was given "stand-up comedian Drax" but all in all great movie, I love how they slipped Stalone in there seamlessly and I can't wait to see "Blood-thirsty Drax" in Infinity Wars
Yeah, that'd be kinda anticlimactic if you-know-who didn't show up in Ragnarok to help Thor. Why even film the post-credit scene, if they weren't going to have you-know-who involved?
Do you think.... Spoiler they find Odin in the last act of Ragnarok and he along with Thor and Dr Strange end up taking on Hela? Or do they defeat Hela without Odin and Odin plays a piece in Infinity Wars?
Well, Odin / Anthony Hopkins is contracted to be in Ragnarok, so it's more likely the former and not the latter. I'm not sure if Odin will be in Infinity Wars, though.
Is he? Shows how much I've been paying attention. It seems like Odin is pretty powerful dude, I wonder how he compares to Thanos.
I enjoyed it. Thought it was great. It started off a little loud and frenetic, even if Baby Groot is cute; but I love the irreverence, and the soundtrack is great. Have to disagree on the "didn't love how they turned Drax into an all out comedian", but to each his own. I thought he was hilarious. "You, too, are beautiful." (pause for effect, while we think he's changed his thinking, then "On the inside."
Saw it with my son yesterday. I thought it was super mushy compared to the first one. I know the original GoTG had its soft moments but to me they were placed at the right spots. This one it seemed like everyone was getting mushy. Drax with Mantis, Gamora with Nebula, hell even Rocket and Yondu had a moment together. I understand this was probably the backstory side of it since all we really got from GoTG Vol. 1 was a glimpse at all the character's backgrounds but man they turned this into a sob fest. Warning: spoilered for a reason (End Credits) Spoiler Plus the end credit scenes were kind of dumb. Waited 15 minutes to watch Teen Groot, Stakar speaking to the OG GoTG, and Adam Warlock (who probably won't even be in the Avengers: Infinity War series. I like Stan with The Watchers walking off on him, this may be one of those moments where we look back on and say "man, I'm going to miss that guy". Overall it was a great father-son movie, so I'm glad me and my son got to enjoy it together.
It's a 2 or 3 on my sleep-o-meter...which measures how many times I fall asleep or nod off while watching a film. It was good but there were some "doze off" moments apparently.
