I was listening to the Dunc’d On podcast, and they mentioned that in OKC’s game the other night against Denver that they barely won, Westbrook had 17 touches in the final 9 minutes and only passed 3 times. Guess how many touches PG had in those final 9 minutes? Just one...
It baffles me that Westbrook can't understand the talent he has around him. Many people take Harden for granted, but you can easily see with your own eyes that Harden is not just a juggernaut on offense, but a players player. Yeah Harden might ISO-joe you many times, but Harden is truly a facilitator at heart. Westbrook will never come close. I really thought Westbrook would play somewhat like Harden this year and have some sort of success because of having PG and Melo... but damn. I was wrong. I am not sure if things will get better, or if the process will take longer than expected. But, so far, so bad.
Thunder is now a winning team. Their good defense continues but more importantly they have turned the corner. They have literally jumped from 8th to 6th seed! Look at the Big 3 stat line: Anthony 5/12 18 George 5/12 18 Westbrook 10/13 24 Balanced FGA shows Westbrook is learning to stop chucking and share the ball. By doing so, Thunder will be a force to reckon with.
Oh no worries, pg knows about his lack of touches. He ain’t staying unless they somehow make it to the finals.
Now up to 5th seed. If they are able to maintain 4th/5th seed, they will potentially face 1st seed in second round. Maybe it's best not to get 1st seed to dodge them.
First, the Rockets are not getting the first seed and never we’re going to. The Rockets have a better shot of winning the title than getting the first seed. Second, the Thunder are like 17-15 after beating the Nuggets, Jazz and Hawks. Not overly impressed. The Thunder will improve and be tough but the Rockets shouldn’t be trying to avoid them. The Spurs and Warriors are both far better. The Thunder will beat the short handed Rockets Christmas Day and this board and ESPN will explode but it won’t mean a damn thing.
5th seed at just 2 games over .500 needed a Russ game winner to beat the 7-25 Hawks at home... stop overhyping mediocre teams...
In case you missed it. Article on ESPN today talking about Melo finally accepting role as a spot up shooter and eliminating his iso long 2 point shots. That’s good for OKC. http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/...-city-thunder-thrives-ball-role-atlanta-hawks
This is huge. Looks like Melo finally accepts that his prime days are over and he is just a great role player now under Westbrook. Thunder have turned the corner and running away from the intersection of mediocrity.
Yup and here is another article talking about how they had to get the ball out of his hands how he had to let “iso Melo” die. This isn’t good. I was hoping he’d continue to be selfish and torpedo the team. I guess we’re about to find out what Melo would have looked like had he come to Houston. http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/...rook-paul-george-thunder-offense-iso-melo-nba
I wonder if they are concerned with their minutes they averaging PG - 37 RW - 36 CA - 33 SA - 32 Rocket River
