Someone has to do it eventually, if we're really trying to win a title.

Offense > defense in this era. As long as Harden stays dominant offensively, his defense doesn't matter that much.

problem is we gave up too much for cp3 in that trade, wouldnt have minded keeping lou williams in case cp3 got injured to still have eg come of the bench

    we have no depth

We had to add every player in order to reach the amount of salary needed to acquire cp3. Harrell was never part of the deal. We purchased a bunch of scrub contracts to include to match salaries.

The numbers weren’t big enough and thus we had to include Harrell at the last second for league approval.

You couldn’t keep Lou. You literally couldn’t keep any single player included in the deal.

In other news the OP is a bafoon

Why are you comparing teams now when we are talking about Harden's individual defense, which can be easily compensated by the rest of the team? You do realize that the Rockets are a top10 defensive team, right? The Cavs were 21st defensively last year.

It's not just his defense. I've never seen a so called 'superstar' with so many holes in his game :

    1. Harden is a great passer ---> is offset by his ridiculous numbers of turnovers

    2. Harden is a great scorer ---> is offset by his reliance on free throws & ref-baiting (and streaky shooting)

    3. Harden is a great offensive player ---> is offset by his non-existent defense

For every good quality you can come up with for Harden as a basketball player, there exists a negative quality that pretty much erases his positive impact on the court, and could potentially be a major problem in the playoffs.

This is why I repeatedly argue that we need to build around CP3, who is overall much more complete and consistent. If CP3 wasn't so injury prone, I would absolutely stand by my statement.

Harden is far from perfect but every team in the league would jump at the opportunity to add him to their roster. You have to build around Harden and hope he eventually starts to fix some of the things you mentioned.

Build with what? Lebron James, draft picks? We are not going to rebuild around CP3. We are trying to bring more superstars to join James Harden so Harden doesn't have to do everything. Harden is a beast and we would be crap without him.

And yet, despite all these glaring holes in his game, I'd love to see the complete list of players in the league you think could do as much as Harden has the previous three seasons with the same surrounding talent.

WHY do people still respond to Houston’s beard?

    I’m befuddled

If you were Harden and wanting to improve, wouldn't it be easier to focus on your biggest weakness over your greatest strength. Much easier to improve on a weakness than something that you are already elite at.
