At least he must be the Most Valuable Jedi. https://screenrant.com/star-wars-8-luke-skywalker-most-powerful-jedi/
I liked it less now, then when I walked out of the theatre. I've realized I care very little about the rebellion story line. They never built up the First Order as a huge oppressive monster. Care very little about hose who are "oppressed" I was deeply interested in the Jedi history and the force. Rey's lineage and Snoke's background. Both of those questions were handled in the worst way possible for me. I find Kylo fairly annoying and not very interesting. Surprisingly, the visual dictionary provided more info on the Jedi Mysteries than the movie itself, which gives me hope for 9 to maybe focus heavily on discovery. This is actually the mural of the "Prime Jedi" on the temple floor who is meditating in balance. To me that looks a bit like Snoke, so I am hoping, in 9, Rey does searching on the history of what Snoke was and his story. There is some other artifacts which are interesting like Snoke's ring which is a piece of Vader's Castle and Luke's necklace which is an old sith kyber crystal.
Yeah, had that soundtrack on heavy rotation for a while, and Chemical Bros are not really my normal kind of thing.
I'll have to look up the soundtrack. The fact that the kids in Stranger Things and It were not remotely impossible/insufferable to watch is what made those work. I really need to go watch Last Jedi again. I'm still not sure what to think about it, other than "it was not bad".
The Star Wars Ponzi story .. . . BUT WAIT TIL NEXT MOVIE . . .ALL WILL BE EXPLAINED . . . . .. . #Repeat Rocket River
tinman, that's been posted at least once in this thread. This isn't the NBA Dish -- we actually have standards around here.
Snoke's actions are directly responsible for the state of the galaxy and everything being significantly changed from where we left the original characters at the end of Return of the Jedi. Luke was the hero of the original trilogy, so I want to know how he went from hero who redeemed his Sith Lord father, to jaded old man hermit. Now he refuses to get involved and has not only forsaken any beliefs in the Jedi, but didn't bother to try and stop the fallen Kylo after the fact either. Snoke's directly responsible for this by turning Kylo. He is responsible for Kylo killing Han and participating in the attempt to kill Leia. Kylo's fall is made into a central plot point of the first two movies, but how he got so much darkness in him in the first place is dismissed as not important. Kylo tries to make it seem like he was still good, until Luke pulled his lightsaber on him, but Luke only pulled his lightsaber because he sensed Kylo had already given in to the dark side (which even that was really out of character for the guy who redeemed Vader, a sith lord who was responsible for the death of millions). Snoke was at least as important to what has happened since the original trilogy as Palpatine's role in the prequels with Anakin, but he was killed off as if his importance was on par with Boba Fett. The movies were visually impressive and there were some individual good scenes, but the story line as a whole was bad, and there are lots of poorly executed plot lines. I didn't hate it, but there are more things that bother me than things that I loved.
I'm not asking you to justify your opinion either, I'm just in shock that anyone could figure those storyline elements were draw dropping or breathtaking. I'm not asking why you liked them, rather just affirming that you did.
It’s like almost half the country voted to make Star Wars great again and the results were entirely predictable.
I would gather some of that gets resolved in the last movie. Then again, they could have resolved it and spared us from that God awful Fin sidestory. Class warfare, yay! The evolution of Luke was organic from episode 4-6. He was a kid, then a cocky Jedi in training, then a more methodical and patient Jedi master. The evolution of Rey hasn't been as much. Heck, in this movie in the first mind meld she wants to cut Kylo's dick off, and by the third mind meld it seems like she wants to do something else with it entirely. It's forced and rushed to create a moving plot. Also, the whole 3 lesson thing was blah and undercut the previous movies substantially, but whatevs let's jump ahead. Jump to Kylo, why did Luke see such darkness in him? Again, it could be something resolved in the last movie, but to do so seems rather late. This could also be done to garner excitement for the next flick, but it does so poorly. Snoke was an interesting character, but when you spend 1/4 of the movie on a Finn storyline with this Rose character (who to be honest I DGAF about) it's hard to allocate time to him. You would think a movie that clocks in at 150 minutes would be well thought out enough to do so. I look back at other middle child films and how I felt about them closing the series out: B2TF 2 had me jazzed about the third one The Matrix 2, while not as prophetic as the first one had me excited for the third The Empire Strikes back is still epic as f*** Even episode 2 had me jazzed about episode 3 All in all I think Rian lost sight of what the purpose of this movie was, and that's to garner excitement and lay foundation for Episode 9. It does this, but does so poorly. Middle movies are hard, there's no doubt in my mind here, especially ones where you are trying to paint your own vision while maintaining the integrity of someone else's work. In the end something had to give.
Saw it. Reallly liked it. Honestly ... I get some of the story plot holes and curiosities... but they all seem to have that. This was light years ahead of the same ole Same ole bore fest of TFA imo. And then visually/cinematically had a professional and not kiddie feel to it that the first three had (episodes 1-3... perhaps saving 3). Im not much into ranking. But I split into ones I thought were good/great and ones less so. Good/great Episodes 3,4,5 and now 8
Would of been great if Luke just hopped into his xwing and fought kylo ren instead of projecting a hologram and losing.
of course, had he done that, he'd have been instantly killed by all of the guns that fired on him. Probably best he was an astral projection so that he could survive that in order to have the fight with Kylo Ren.
It was like watching a movie with someone else having the fast forward They wanted you to see Rey be badass. . . so skip all the boring training They want Snoke dead. . . just accepted he is a big bad and get him dead They wanted Kylo Bad. . .skip showing how and why .. . . It was a collection of events more than a story for me . .. Honestly . . it looked like the OUTLINE of a good story more than a story Rocket River
maybe once the 5-hour director's cut comes out, they'll show all that character development we missed.
