Wanted to start a thread to highlight anything that people here are thankful for in 2017 post
    the election. I'll start:

Thank you Trump and the GOP for respecting people and a free market enough to give people's earnings back to them to allow them to dictate how they wish to spend it. People's money is being returned to them in the form of the taxes they pay, the increased value of businesses they own or invest in as lower taxes means higher retained earnings, dividends or shareholder value, and lower costs and regulations through reduction in administrative oversight by government agencies.

Cheers to the joys of those that have the humility to let people make decisions about their money for themselves. Woe to the those that believe the state must decide what free men choose to do with their hard earned money.

Hope you all enjoy the extra bonus in your stalking from The Donald Claus.

I'm not Christian (muslim actually) but Merry Christmas!

Thank you Trump, for outing all these bigots and idiots. We always knew they were there but you brought them all out of the woodwork.

Thank you Trump, for giving us 19th century economics and trickle down. It's always worked so well.

Thank you Trump for removing those pesky regulations that prevent pollution and protect consumers. We the people are clearly #winning.

Thank you Trump, for doing the easiest thing a politician can do, cut taxes. Trading future safety nets for the profits of corporations and quashing the estate taxes of millionaires is a great idea, why didn't anyone think of it before?

Damn, this is fun. Great thread!

Thank you, President Two Scoops, for helping me realize what large, handsome, graceful hands I have.

Also thank you for helping us see other nincompoop presidents in a new, more gracious light.

Finally, thank you for pissing off most of planet Earth, besides Russia, and giving us some daily excitement and tension!

Great thread - that I can tell you.

Ironically the greatest rise in human lifestyle in History was during the late 19th century. The rise
in GDP per capita was astonishing and we overtook stodgy Europe to become a global power.

Innovation was rampant as the great businesses of today many of which were founded by entrepreneurs
of that era. They're now run by bureaucratic CEO's for themselves but the disruptive innovation today
    is paralleled with that era.

A return to the 1860's to 1900's time period for American advancement, innovation and an individual's
ability to change their circumstances through hard work would be a blessing.

    Merry Christmas!

    Indeed Merry Christmas!
Child labor! Decades of slavery! Infinite-hour workweeks! Unprecedented pollution and environmental degradation! Poors everywhere! It was a true wonderland, with soot raining like snow! Ho Ho Ho!
    Gilded Christmas for all!

(Also, from what site did you cut-n-paste that? It has totally different line lengths than your original post. Ho Ho Ho!)

Are people starting more "joke" threads? This has to be a joke. Why? Because Mr. trump has well and truly been a disaster. At home and internationally. This tax bill is a gigantic gift to the wealthiest Americans and American corporations. The "middle class tax cuts" will expire, while the corporate tax cuts are permanent. trump will make a huge amount of money off the bill, in or out of office, even if he's in jail. The nation will see the deficit go up by hundreds of billions of dollars because of that bill. What happens then? The far right GOP will start screaming about that deficit and instead of admitting the tax bill was a mistake, they will call for slashing social services, like Medicare, Medicaid and a host of other programs, including Social Security.

Honestly, the disaster that is trump in the Oval Office is too great to detail in a post in D&D. NATO weakened, our alliances in the Western Pacific weakened as well. The guy lines his pockets while bending over for Putin, who is the leader of a nuclear power that is hostile to the United States and responsible for interfering not only with our elections in 2016, but the elections of our European allies, as well. And so and so on.

OP, with all due respect, you need to broaden your news sources. Metaphorically, you're like an ostrich who's head is stuck in a hole in the ground, while the bird's arse is rotating in the air, begging to be screwed by any con man who happens by. Of course, you aren't a large bird. I'll give you that.

    Merry Christmas.

Before this era children worked on family farms with little to no education. That era despite many needed corrections in
labor, pollution etc created this country. Exxon, Mobil, US Steel, Proctor and Gamble, Nabisco, Sears, Montgomery Wards,
Pillsbury, Coca Cola, Trains connecting the country, the modern department store, Ivory Soap, Heinz ketchup and many of
today's legacy brands were created because the spark of innovation was combined with open system.

It was a time period in which a man could do labor and go after what he desired and wasn't restricted by government
licensing boards or administrative laws and permits so you didn't need tons of money and then have to waste tons of money
in educational institutions to subsidize liberal thought.

The internet and the tech boom we're enjoy was not limited because it moved too fast for the government to try to regulate
and control and lobbying to protect the entrenched.

These licensing rules and 'protections' just keep those in power entrenched as most liberal systems do. It keeps the few that
know the bureaucracy and work within the system rich and keeps the others on subsistence levels living based on the mercy
of the rich governmental elite overlords.

F'ck that. Its not American values. The history of America is the history of business in America and the benefits of a free
market enterprise mixed with immigration of hungry entrepreneurs from all over the world.

The wealth that Standard Oil, US Steel, Vanderbilt, Coca Cola, Ford and others created by selling products and services
globally brought vast riches to this country that paid for the infrastructure and gave the jobs to people.

So have some respect when you speak about these Titans as you're living off an inheritance they created.

Oh yes, I see you're a fan of the Gilded Age. Not surprised. Ironically, a lot of the societal progress and social safety nets that Trump will be targeting to pay for tax cuts for corporations and the wealthy came about as a result of the failures of 19th century society. It was a FANTASTIC era particularly for the blacks and the browns and the Asians. Let's make America 19th century again because those Trumpanzees that don't learn from history will drag all of us into the past to repeat it.

    But I'm not done.

Thank you Trump, for bringing the world to the verge of nuclear war by engaging in sophomoric tit-for-tat insults with a psychopathic dictator. The fire and fury speech was especially fantastic .

Thank you Trump, for regularly trashing things in public and supporting them in private because you know your supporters feed on sound bytes and idiotic rhetoric rather than facts. A fool playing people for fools.

Thank you Trump, for all the tweets where you claim and say the direct opposite of what you actually do. It's just a treasure trove of deceit and BS.

Yes you're right. The 1700's was so much better before when people lived to the ripe old age of 'dead in childbirth'.
Before these titans of business and pioneers built railroads, factories, scale farming and ranching, people would get
grease being sold as butter and had atrocious diets of limited protein.

Industrial power and scale is why we're a wealthy, rich nation. The US with only 5% of world population has nearly
25% of global gdp because of these industries.

Recognize and respect those which worked hard to build a system that you live off of today.

So basically, have some respect for all of the 19th century tactics that are incredibly illegal today like fraud, collusion, low wages, child labor, dangerous work conditions, slavery, violence and intimidation against unionizers, and on and on. If only we could return to those good ole days.

    Mkay.

You're just basically full of it. Where does the free labor of slavery play into your dream world? Where do the tactics of 19th century robber barons and industry play into your dream world? Are you really that ignorant or are you just pretending?

Why don't you recognize the inherent criminality of your heroes?

I think we're getting somewhere. You value rich assholes no matter how they became rich. Speaks to your Trump fanaticism.

With all due respect, have you ever read Sinclair Lewis? It doesn't sound like it. It's ironic that you mentioned the internet, since your hero is busy f'cking it up for the rest of us in the country that aren't a corporation like AT&T.

I don't consider Trump a great businessman, nor a Titan in that respect.

Please tell me one illegal thing John D. Rockefeller did? Please give me ONE example.

Even Ida Tarbell conceded he paid higher than market wages. His empire brought down
the prices of kerosene and oil which lit the world and advanced civilization for millions and
    generations.
