People will always use money against a player because the amount of cap space their salary takes greatly affects the team's ability to replace them and improve. Cap flexibility and all that. There are expectations for players based on their salary. We're happy with Capela's production now, but we would expect more if he were maxed out next year. We all love Mbah a Moute, but would be far more critical of him if he were making $20M.
my point was the amount of money a player makes doesn't give them the excuse to just suck. a user posted if ryno was making tarik blacks salary we wouldnt care. I definitely still would. yes players are paid based on what they can do and what they can bring to a team but for someone to believe that its ok to be bad just bc you make less/more then someone else is something i dont agree with.
If Anderson isn't shooting the ball, he's a complete non-factor. Harden knows this. The THREAT of Ryan Anderson is more important to this offense than even the player Ryan Anderson. He's in there to keep defenses honest, give Harden an outlet when driving lanes aren't there, and to pull defenders out of the paint. If he doesn't shoot the ball when he's open, none of that other stuff works. Even if he's missing, at least the defense is forced to close out.
If you don't use $$$ how do you know whether a player is good or bad? How do you know if Anderson is good or not? If Anderson is good what do you call Lebron? Harden? KD? Curry? If you just judge a player based on how he plays then everybody would suck compared to the superstars. The $$$ are like weight classes, you only compare players based on their salary, otherwise its like in boxing if you just mix up all the classes the heavy weights will be the best boxers over everyone else. In Anderson's case he is only a role player but his salary is so big he should be playing like a star. That is why he sucks and that is why he is one of the worst contracts in the league. He is so untouchable NYC would rather have Kanter even if he is a bust.
Amaru's only saying that because that is Anderson's history. Regular season 3 pt fg: 40% Playoff 3 pt FG: 28% People aren't skeptical about Anderson for no reason. He improved his rebounding and defense but he is getting paid to shoot 3s and his inconsistency is still there. It'd be better if he still sucked on defense and rebounding but his shooting is improved and more consistent. Its not like Anderson is a no Stats all star, his DBPM is freaking -1.
