Saw it again yesterday. I will say if any movie is in need of a 10 minute intermission for people to stretch, take a leak and refill their drinks it's this movie. Don't get me wrong I don't think it's boring but I think there should have been a break after the second act.
It’s been said in this thread. I thought the scene cane off super cheesy. I understood what they were trying to communicate through it, but thought it was horribly executed.
I have seen an uploaded fan clip of the Mary Poppins bit. It is just startlingly silly. If that had been in the original, I swear it would have blunted the whole Star Wars phenomena. We might not even have a #8 or whatever if Mary Poppins had happened in the first one. Good Lord Almighty. That's one of the worst things I've seen since Catwoman played basketball.
Oh I see. I don't think so, at least not any more than other Star Wars movies. They're all kinda cheesy in parts. It is and has always kinda been a thing for kids.
Spoiler That, to me, was among the cheesiest scenes in any Star Wars movie. I wish they had ended it with the camera pan out on what's left of the Resistance/Rebels...while having Leia say, "we have everything we need." Fitting ending to a SW movie, I think...not the way they went. Oh, well.
I've never disliked a Star Wars movie before. I think there are clearly some that are way better than others...but I enjoy the story, generally.
I disliked the prequels....but they were truly awful. Episode 3 being the most tolerable one of the bunch. I dunno, but you'd think that episodes 7 and 8 were as bad as every non Wonder Woman movie in the DCEU the way people talk about them and that couldn't be further from the truth at least in my opinion. Just because a movie has flaws doesn't mean that it's crap.....and we've seen plenty of crap Star Wars movies in the past so we should compare it to that.
None of this is objective, obviously. I don't want or need other people to dislike it. I did, though. And I liked 7.
So just watched the movie...To go from the Force Awakens...to this was clearly a disappointment for me. After spending so much time with character development from Episode 7, Episode 8 was meh... Spoiler 1. As others have mentioned...Leia floating in space..WTF? 2. Rey's parents... 3. Luke dies from exhaustion? 4. Snoke disposed by a light saber after essentially throwing Rey around a few moments ago... 5. the casino scene 6. Making Finn's character useless. 7. Story of Rose... 8. broom boy 9. After Kylo kills Hans, he no longer should be conflicted...why was he struggling with being evil? Overall thought this was a poorly written story line. I really wished they spent more time with the characters...
Just for the LULZ, great summary of that scene here, and it's surprisingly like the Mary Poppins scene we're all lamenting.
First Star Wars movie I walked away from and wasn’t really excited about seeing the next one. It just seemed...different...non-Star Warsy. I guess they truly are just making stuff up now and hoping it works.
