not at all impressive if you dont win fouling out in 10 mins of play with 1 pt earlier this week is far more impressive....
CP3 absolutely killed the Spurs from the midrange. Completely ignoring this part of the game was fookin' stupid, and always will be
whats stupid is telling players to shoot midrange when they suck at it. so id say the rockets are pretty smart
I mean Harden is a pretty great mid range shooter also. Remember his 15 season? He's doing g to more this year too.
Not to mention, we barely took mid range shots. We took 7 or 8 attempts, still would be lowest in the league. Not taking mid range shots is a distinguishing factor of the most succesful (relative to talent) team in the league. We are doing great. It's nice that in the 7-8 mid range shots we take, we can even count on those to be efficient with Paul around.
Tonight shot distribution against the 3rd best defense in the NBA 50 3s 27 at the rim 7 in the paint but not at the rim 7 mid-ranges 25 FTs 124 points Not sure how anyone can use this game as an example we should take more mid-range shots.
Many people consider "in the paint but not at the rim" as mid range, so that number would be 14, which seems higher than we shoot against other teams.
We shot 54 in Game 1 blowout, 43 in Game 4 blowout and 48 in Game 5. And Harden scored 43 in Game 3 when they stuck to the 3 ptrs, in a very close game until Harden ran out of energy as MDA tried to steal one by playing him the whole 4th Q. And that team isn't nearly as good as this one. And this is 50. Sure, Game 2 they successfully stopped the 3s and Harden. I'm still on an island saying Pops didn't stop our system last playoffs, didn't find some silver bulked defense, and they won Game 5 barely, and mainly on vet experience not Xs and Os. And now we have this blowout. Lulz...Pops can't beat this team, because his offense can't keep up. Oh, and our first half defense was very good, and without Luc.
The Rockets on the season before tonight attempted 17% of their shots outside of 3ft but inside the 3pt line. Tonight they shot 14/91 = 15% from that area. So in essence we shot less than we normally shoot from mid-range in this game. Again, there's nothing about this game that suggest the Rockets offensive shot distribution is bad.
When you make your threes like this, there's little reason to increase it, but it was good to see Gordon, CP3 and Harden take some to keep the defense on their toes. My claim was we shouldn't ignore it and CP3 at least clearly isn't! I must admit I underestimated how CP3 would affect our 3pt shooting though. Still, this was far from the regular Spurs team so let's not jump to conclusions just yet.
Last season lots of mid ranges are either last sec forced shots(long 2s by Ryno) or harden step back iso balls. This season lots of these mid ranges come from CP3, the best mid range shooter in this league. It becomes a legit threat this season, or at least a distraction.
You can give up trying to convince them now. If the Rockets were 27 - 0 instead of "just" 23 - 4, there would still be people here criticizing D'Antoni and the way the Rockets play. CP3 played his entire career in 2pt heavy offenses. He's universally regarded as one of the smartest NBA players out there and he has bought into the D'Antoni system body and soul. Yes he takes some mid-range jumpers when they are open. But with CP3 the Rockets are playing an even more extreme version of the 7 seconds offense than ever and the results have been extraordinary. These people who want more mid-range game are basically max kellerman dopplergangers - just trolling for attention by being contrarian.
The Rockets broke their own record (again) for fewest midrange ever attempted last season, and are breaking it again this season. "Lots "of midranges in Rockets terms = almost none, in everybody elses parlance
Ignoring this thread will do Rockets good than bad. Encouraging mid jumpers will ruin our floor spacing that is getting us better shots - treys, pick n roll, penetration, that is our offense.
We have the greatest offense of all time statistically....and people still want to complain about it. /facepalm
Chris Paul proving my point. When the D tightens amdbthey clog the paint and run you off the 3...mid is open and that is money. Nobody’s going to give you a layup on a last possession and you don’t take the 3 unless you need it. The crowd asking to eliminate the shot from our offense is stupid as ****. That’s 80% of the sbootable space on the court
