Firstly, I want to make it clear that I hate the Spurs and they are the luckiest team in sports. The road to the WCF could very well lead through San Antonio. To me, they are the elephant in the room. They’ve missed their #1 option and a guy people had as a top 3 player on the MVP race all year and they are still #3 in the west, 2.5 games behind us. I’d like to ask your predictions on where you think we would be if we had CP3 and everyone else all year, but no Harden.
It won't be easy, but we should win the series with home-court advantage. Dantoni could be on the hot-seat if Pop gets the best of him again.. that is not a good look and you kill all Lebron hopes if that happens. I don't like Anderson much for that series, but that's why we got Tucker and Luc. Let's hold on the first seed. If that happens, we don't see the Spurs at all. Super important to be the first seed.
We wouldn't have beaten them. Paul/Harden give us a great chance of beating them, but they still have the edge until they are defeated.
You have to control tempo against the spurs. Have to force them into transition in order to get them reeling and catch mismatches. But with cp3 I think we beat them anyways against their half court defense as well. If they park Pau in the paint illegally like they did last year and cover the shooters cp3 and harden with pull up in that free throw and closer “mid range” spot they like. Very similar to how we attacked Utah’s defense. Once we drag the center out a couple feet it will open the lob and make it easier to finish at the rim.
Spurs are a great team, a great organization, great coach and even without guys like Tony Parker & Kawhi Leonard, they can beat you by 40 points. Not to be taken lightly!
i agree, we absolutely must face them after they are worn out by the warriors if they can get by them. Pops is one of the greatest coaches of all time, and he's going to make harden play defense and make others beat you. we don't match up well with them at all cuz we don't have anyone who can really guard LA or Kawhi for four quarters of every game. Tucker's arms are too short, so Luc will have to play really well and a whole lot of minutes. hopefully he can hold his ground in the post against them.
CP3 was the best player in the series between Clippers-Spurs three years ago. They couldn't couldn't stop CP3 from doing his thing. With Harden and CP3, I'm hoping for a series rematch against the Spurs. The Spurs could barely handle us last season before season 6. We could've easily won in 6 if Harden doesn't get exhausted and possibly concussed. Plus Nene goin down definitely helped them. The Spurs caught so many breaks that series, its laughable. We were the better team and we're better now then we were then. Johnathan Simmons was getting away with murder that's series and he ain't their nomore.
If we only had HEALTHY CP3? 6th seed. If we didn't have CP3, but had an unbroken Eric Gordon? 9th seed. If we didn't have CP3 and had a broken EG? Competing with PHX for worst record in the WC.
If Harden had not played concussed during game 6 we would of won that series. With this squad we would win in 5. To answer the pole question- 6-8 seed.
