Rebounded from 12.8k to 13.8k within minutes on bitstamp, you can literally see the whales battle this out before our eyes.

So Coinbase availability is a great influencer in cc prices? Makes sense especially with how relatively new cc is to the general public. Apparently Coinbase is the go-to broker.

What are you guys using to buy alts? or better yet, what are the most trusted cc brokers right now? I imagine you buy a specific cc like xrp on the broker that offers the cheapest buy price. Bitstamp? Kraken?

Coinbase has a low friction point of entry. Their market entails N. America, Europe, Australia and Singapore. They do not cover Russia, India, Asia, Africa and S. America. Make no mistake about it, these other regions are heavily investing in crypto also.

I wouldn't say Coinbase is a great influence, but they have a significant impact. They are the goto for inexperience investors.

If you're using low dollar transfers, then coinbase is ok (0-$1000).
If you're doing $1000+, use GDAX or Gemini. (Note GDAX and Coinbase are the same company, but different platforms).

If you're new and you're wanting to put in $2000.00 immediately and no account setup, use Gemini. Coinbase takes forever to get verified and youre deposits are on a tiered system. I will note that things may have changed since I last used GDAX and coinbase.

Here is a comparison for GDAX and Gemini. https://coincentral.com/gdax-vs-gemini/ They are very similar however Coinbase/GDAX are notorious for crashing often.

If you're wanting to trade BTC/ETH pairs (trading alts), Bittrex and Biance are your goto exchanges.

Awesome. Thanks for the info. I’m reading up bitcoin platforms in the Philippines too. Apparently, that’s a big market too. Unfortunately, Coinbase isn’t an option there yet. Coin.ph is the thing there. Still researching, but if Coin.ph doesn’t offer btc conversion to USD, I was gonna see if you could transfer btc from one platform to another. I’ll have the hardware wallet to transfer anyway, so no big deal.

Considering the crashes, how long do you leave your btc in trader accounts?

Are y'all just in bitcoin or do you have some litecoin? litecoin has actually appreciated more than bitcoin this past month.
