Why are the Rockets the only team held to the Golden State standard?

To be fair, every good team is ultimately going to be compared to the Warriors. They're the champs after all. Take it as a compliment they are even placing us in the same breath at this point. The Warriors have hardware to back up the love. Until we get ours, we will have to suffer it.

I'm glad we are being held to that standard. they are the only team imo that might be above us right now in the league

When Chuck said we weren't any better than last year, I muted the TV. That level of ignorance and bias is done purposefully and willfully. He's a ****ing joke.

And the GM. And the organization as a whole.

Why doesn't anyone get this? lol it should be taken as a compliment. The rockets are seen as the only team in the west that would give golden state a problem at this point. Other than us, they would pretty much have a cake walk to the finals again.

The only way this will change on TNT is if Tillman "hires" Barkley for something. Advertising most likely. And get Charles "his money"
[to be 100% clear, I don't fully believe Barkley's version of events]

Otherwise we will continue to have these discussions ad naseum.

SAS has a proven record with the same coach and players that can't be counted out no matter what. BOS has to go through Cavs before we can even talk about their matchup with GS if they are to meet on the finals.

We are the only contender in the west and we have to prove we can beat GS in the playoffs by actually beating them. They can give the accolades to everybody else as long as we take home the ring.

There will always be haters. The good thing is when you get them, that means you are good.

This was the weirdest thing about the post game show @J Sizzle

ERNUH asked whether the Rockets were better than they were last year and Barkley and Kenny both said "no" because they aren't better than the Warriors. Literally within minutes after saying the Jazz are better than THEY were last year because they play faster.

Because unlike the Grizzlies or Celtics - the Rockets haven't proven they can beat the W's yet.

(I get my info from the Amex halftime show)

Barkley wanted so badly to say Paul/Harden don't play defense last night until he came to his sense and realized that Paul at least is really good. But then he just went ahead and dug his hole anyway.

Hmm...yeah...something's up with TNT and the Rockets. Not sure, but even other teams' fans I know of say that there's a noticeable disdain they have for Houston.

This is perfect and exactly what the new Rockets should use as fuel. I loved it when Houston beat NY in 94 and it was great to witness some of that again w/ the Astros getting doubted every step of the way. I always enjoy having to watch them back pedal.

Rockets historically seem to be spoilers to the national media because it seems like whenever they're most successful it's at the expense of one of the bigger markets. The 81 team beating the Lakers to face the Celtics in the finals pissed off the NBA so much they extended the first round from a best-of-3 to a best-of-5.

That's probably true. Maybe you can add Morey to the mix.

D'Antoni has been criticized of his system not being able to win big, going back to the Nash days in Phoenix. (A "jump shooting team") And he has not helped himself with two failed stint in LA and NY, two of the biggest markets, and he had a reputation of blaming the players of his failure.

Harden is not a likable guy outside of his own team's fan base. Those who live outside of Houston know what I'm talking about.

Morey might come across as a brass smart-ass to a lot of people because of some of his tweets.

The most widely hated teams in my own memory were the Bad Boys Pistons and the "Not one, not two, not three" Heat. the current Rockets team is probably a tied third with the current Warriors after Durant joined them.

I think its because people are actually scared of us.. its not just the analyst, its also the forum of who ever team we are playing, most are saying they just hope not to be embarrassed.. We are supremely dominant on the road.. Since Paul came back rockets are shooting 48.5 from the field and 42.5% from 3 point line. Our defense is holding opponents at 43% from the field and 29.3% from 3 point line.. these are numbers over 8 games and our 3 point games have ranged from 38,2% at lowest to 47% at highest from 3 point line, over 8 games, not one bad game.. Take that for data

LOL you are crazy if you think they were suggesting we were the only team who could challenge the Warriors.

Right after Barkley said we weren't better than last year he said he wasn't sure we could go far in the playoffs because it would depend on who we played. He ragged on our defense.

He was not showing respect haha.
