Don't hire anybody you don't want to for any reason as it's virtually impossible to prove bias on a single 1/2 hour or hour-long meeting, but be a man and own it. Own up to it to yourself, not publicly; publicly just talk about smiling or attitude, even if they're not black.
Let me know if you need some SEO and product management help, I'm more than happy to relocate and watch Rockets games with you
My old employer actively hired SJWs. Some were insane and utterly incompetent. Others pretended in order to sound and look good. As with any group, there were only a few who cared enough to try to make a difference. They definitely enriched the company and my own experience/understanding. I think the general rule for hiring is whether they're decent enough to work with, and whether you think they can work with your indecency. Hiring only like-minded people is textbook Hawthorne Effect, and you only hamper yourself when you need to pivot and adjust...only to find your bros aren't the same under different pressures and with more skin in the game.
A key point is that this role is in Germany. I spend a lot of time each year working there, and an SJW would go over better there, vs. say Texas, for example. I wouldn't hire one personally - why put yourself through the potential trouble? They would alienate many who don't share their political beliefs. If you could find these videos online, then so can potential customers, who may not agree with her, and they may choose to do business elsewhere. If you've already hired her, then I'd tell her to get those videos down, for the good of the company.
Those are good points. I speak pretty regularly with recruiters, and they always tell people now to review and/or clean up their online profile. Some will retort, “But... freedom of speech!!!” That does not apply to an employer’s hiring decision. That is designed to protect individuals against arrest by the govt for political speech. Employers these days most definitely check potential employees’ online footprint.
The German colleagues I worked with were pretty private with their political and social passions. It wasn't after a few beers or four that they opened up about it, but maybe it's because I was a foreigner I didn't see much **** kicking in the name of **** kicking. Hell, some of the women dealt with sexism in an IT crowd but you wouldn't know if they went to an angry feminist rally after work. I would say the US is a bigger, more chaotic professional grab bag based off my own limited sample set.
I've never had a problem with SJW in the work place. In New York you have conservatives working alongside liberals and politics don't get too often mentioned. People get that the workplace isn't about politics - but NYC is ultra competitive and you don't screw-up your job with distractions. I mean if someone doesn't think global warming is real - it definitely tells you that you are dealing with a person susceptible to propaganda over science. I wouldn't hire that person to make critical decisions but I would have no problem with them doing a job that didn't involve critical thinking skills.
I've met both SJWs who waste time with pointless causes and distractions, and others who aren't vapid and substanceless in their passions while being pragmatic at their approach. There's also the ex-googler James Damore's of the world whom are fiercely Randian to which people tolerate and pat on the head because of their extraordinary non-social skills.
