I am very new to trading and have been reading heavily but I am unsure of the best exchange. What do you all recommend for alt coins?
I opened an account with Coinbase. Credit or Debit card are immediately funded. Bank accounts takes days (like several). I bought ETH and transfer some to Binance which allows you to trade alt coins. Transfers can be tricky so watch some Youtube videos. That's how I bought into IOTA. First, transfer a small amount for testing. Warning: I just learned this is in days, so I am sure other folks could give you a much better idea. Good luck.
The most used ones are usually Bittrex and then use Binance for some of the coins that don't trade on Bittrex, for example IOTA. You can use GDAX to buy BTC, LTC and ETH, it's the most professional one. Alts to consider: ETH, LTC, IOTA, ARK, OMG, XMR, ADA, NEO,VRT, LINK, LISK, SYS, WALT, QTUM, NAV. Remember to hold the majority of your portfolio in Bitcoin, most stable growth and lowest risk.
Remember that it's always about probabilities and things change daily, so there's no definite "expectation". While the probabiltiy for a correction was pretty high this weekend (your indicator and others were indeed indicating a huge correction), we have seen a very strong backing above the support level in the past two days and are looking at new ATHs. Right now, we are more likely bullish and going higher instead of seeing a correction, but things can change quickly.
Stack, I wanted to personally thank you for the heads up on IOTA. Who knows what it and all the alt coins will be 2-3 years down the road, but it has been fun so far! I am only investing a very modest amount on these alt coins so if they work out, great.
I know nothing about crypto. I just bought 0.1 BTC, 1 ETH, and 1 LTC and will hold till they're gone or I'm rich. I'll let y'all know how it goes.
I'm a fan of Bittrex -- I like the interface the best of other exchanges I've used. And the live updates of fills is always exciting @Hakeemtheking Just saw a twitter I follow shill $ven. Good luck!
You are very welcome. I'm no expert by any means, just did a lot of reading and scouring to possibly find something of value. If it hits even more than we can at least enjoy even more profits. But for now it has had a nice run. I'm glad you got into ARK as well. I wish you got into it a while back when I had posted it haha actually I didn't get that much either becuase I was buying in batches waiting for my deposits to go through lol But then the price surged.
I have an account with Bittrex but I ended up using Binance after reading a lot of negative things about Bittrex recently. Kind of got me worried so I didn't transfer my coins into it to start trading.
What did you read? Are you sure it wasn't Bitfinex? Bitfinex is the exchange with the (fake?) tether FUD.
https://themerkle.com/bittrex-locks-freezes-withdrawals-for-thousands/ This was just one of them. I think you are right that there was more with BitFinex previously but just recently I saw Bittrex pop up in a few places so I was weary.
Pretty sure he's talking about the situation where some people had their accounts suspended without a valid reason and then having trouble getting their money back. But again, it's one of the safest by far and you'll find bad stories for every exchange.
Just be weary that their marketing and PR team is notoriously garbage. ARK has been one of my first alts and should be way more in the spotlight, but their team has done a pretty pathetic job of promoting their product. I still hold and think it is one of the best products, but the price will probably develop much slower than with other competitors who manage to sell completely irrelevant news and drive up the prices like crazy. The community has been unsatisfied for a while with their PR, so hopefully it improves.
I didn't invest too much into it and I think the PR can go both ways...maybe from a marketing stand point they don't want to pump it up without everything being good to go and end up more of a PR nightmare which we know could happen. I'm okay with them not over marketing it if they back end and product turns out nice and then they blast it when it's good and ready.
Same here and I prefer content over fluff. Just a bit depressing when you see the potential and they fail to present their developments in the right way, while others manage to increase the price with every irrelevant update or temporary partnership.
Think most of us missed the "get rich" phase (I don't really see most of these alts going into four digit prices, no matter how promising), but I see it as a very healthy retirement fund. Gotta keep the expectations reasonable.
Agree with you there. All it comes down to is a hiring a good company to fluff it up real quick with articles, press releases, etc. You would figure with the right partnership there they can get it going when they feel they should. At least we hope.
From a comment I wrote earlier today: The most used ones are usually Bittrex and then use Binance for some of the coins that don't trade on Bittrex, for example IOTA. You can use GDAX to buy BTC, LTC and ETH, it's the most professional one. There's been a lot of helpful discussion on this over the last few pages here, you should check them out. Also a lot of strategies and good altcoins discussed.
