Corporations and the wealthy are the only people that know how to spend their money.

Even Helen Keller thinks that is tone deaf.

If you saved your money, you should be able to have an estate that will allow the government to tax you, it is the American dream. 5.5 million for one person and 11 million for a couple!

I took a girl out for drinks and a movie on Saturday and it turned out to be a great investment later on that night. What do Republican senators recommend instead? Picking them up at middle school dance recitals?

Barbie dolls and some candy is definitely a cheaper date.

You might want to reconsider what an investment is. Hookers are cheaper and tinder is free.

Yup, look here, if Americans could only increase their net worth by a factor of 10, they would be right over the estate tax limit right? LOL

    https://www.fool.com/retirement/2017/07/03/how-does-your-net-worth-compare-to-that-of-the-ave.aspx

So let's cut to the chase: According to the Census Bureau, as of 2013 (the last year for which this level of data is available), American households had a median net worth of roughly $80,000. But that number alone doesn't tell the whole story.

Yeah, but most of them are poor colored welfare recipients. I voted for Trump for the exact reason not to be lumped into that lot.

Sorry, this wasn't really directed at you specifically, just want to point out how ludicrous the idea that estate tax which affect .2% of the estates in the US is some how in any ways related to vast majority of the people in this country.

It's aggravating that my small business pays more taxes than global corporations.

I understand loopholes & investing in professionals to maximize tax burdens, but there's a fundamental unfairness that burns when i see GE, GM, Apple and others pay less than my company does.

Yes, Grassley made a very disjointed comment. Estate tax and people saving/spending have very little correlation. Not that I entirely disagree that Americans tend to waste a lot of money when they should be saving or spending more wisely.

That Americans should save more I completely agree with.

I give you another George Best quote:

"In 1969 I gave up women and alcohol - it was the worst 20 minutes of my life."
