Every year I would see the commercials for the P'Zone from Pizza Hut, and I am like, man, that looks tasty. I get one, and its absolute ****. The next year, I see it again, forgot it was terrible, and ordered it again. I get it, and absolute ****, and I remember, oh right, this is ****. Now, I know it's ****, I remember forgetting it was ****, and then remembering its ****. Now, I have an informed opinion on the P'Zone, it's ****. I get being fooled once, I get not remembering and getting fooled again, but how many ******* times can a person fall for this garbage.
Imagine eating the Pizza Hut P'Zone, and believing that if you don't eat the PZone, Dominoes will deliver poison cinnasticks to your kids. That's the GOP and their voters in a nutshell.
This is a pretty silly justification - "welp it's the will of the people" Like, it's obviously not, when the popular vote loser takes office due to a variety of kooky factors like Russian interference with the vote of 60 out of 300 million American. It's the outcome of a very broken system.
Great. Am I understanding this correctly? I will pay more in taxes so even wealthier multinational corporations can get a massive tax break on their already record breaking profits. And it’ll encourage these companies to pay their workers more or hire more workers when in reality a corporation’s only concern are its shareholders. (Increased labor costs means decreased profits, especially when corporations try to run as lean as possible). My 401k goes up, but my disposable income goes down. And then my 401k falls as well because this bull market is going to crash like in 98 and 08. This tax plan is a giant turd.
Here's the NYT article (complete with the chart Guy Benson quoted) since you're too lazy to look... (or is it just that you're so invested in bashing "right wingers" you hoped it wouldn't be true). https://www.nytimes.com/interactive...ook-like-for-25000-middle-class-families.html
Surprised that the one mainstream economist that was quoted as believing trump's rich tax cut would "pay for itself" was in fact misquoted...
So lets get this straight. On the floor of the Senate right before a planned set of votes, the Senate learns that these tax cuts will in fact not pay for themselves and yet if it weren't for 3 senators, they would have gone ahead anyway and passed it last night. They still plan on trying again tonight after concocting changes in less than 24 hours that will not be reviewed or analyzed. They're altering the entire US economy (and by extension the global economy) in a closed door meeting with a bunch of made up numbers and data points all because the Republican donor class said pass this bill or else. This is more insane than the health care bill. I hope Americans wake up and start yelling. This is so much more destructive than the ACA repeal proposals. EDIT - The GOP claims they now have the votes despite not releasing the bill they're voting on. What a joke of a political party. How anyone can defend this is beyond me. If this passes, then we've all been sold out by the GOP.
It's amazing that they can just add random amendments to the bill on the fly and just somehow cobble votes together. Flake claims that McConnell promised a DACA fix after this passes. I highly doubt that's happening. The other thing to note is that PayGo is technically still in effect. The Senate mandates that any bills that add to the deficit have to be offset by a wide range of spending cuts. And those cuts go into effect as soon as these tax cuts start creating deficits (so next year). So all of this talk about a trigger is silly, it already exists. And unlike the tax cuts, the paygo rule can't be waived with 50 votes. Now naturally the Senate leadership will try and include it in the government funding bill in December but I wouldn't be surprised if Democrats just refuse to cooperate.
Important to note that they were unable to get a majority of senators to approve this turd. It will pass, bad things will happen, and hopefully Americans will make better choices in 2018 and beyond.
Why are Republicans so eager to pass this even though many know and acknowledge it's a turd? Lindsey Graham provides the answer. If they don't it will mean the end of their majorities. This is truly putting party over country.
It seems really hard to mess up a bill where you're literally giving away $1.5 trillion, but this bill manages to do it. It gets tax cuts without growth or jobs and while making poor people even poorer. Well done, GOP - you've done what should be virtually impossible.
So the bill that the Senate is supposed to vote on today hasn't been released. They're going to affect every single portion of the economy and every American and no one has any clue what the final provisions will be.
