I have the same idea. Just need to monitor the lower bowl for empty seats for the first half. Then sell the seat exclusively at the game for 20% of the price. Whoever doesn't show up for the first half loses their seats in the lower bowl.

    Yep

A family of 4 or 5 can't see a game with GOOD seats, food, drinks and parking etc for less than 1200-1500 bucks.

Correct me if am wrong but aren't those lower seats assigned to corporates, if that's the case what is possibility of making those tickets available to public, could the management do this ....!!!!

Declare every night Zhou Chi night and sell his jerseys for $20 dollars in the fan shop.

Franchise just sold for a record number based largely on profitability. Large chunk of money comes from corporations (mainly Oil). They will absolutely not piss off an executive who is showing up to the game late from a meeting in order to help a real fan from the nosebleeds. They could literally lose an entire corporate account. Won't happen.

Off the top of my head? Those cities are more compact, and direct metro access makes it incredibly easy for white collar workers to get to the games. Houston is sprawling and is lacking in public transport, so a lot of the corporate types work on the outskirts of town and have to deal with traffic to make tipoff. If they're not truly passionate about the team, they won't show up -- not on time, anyway.

I do think there is some merit to this with the lousy turnout at the games thus far. Texas is a football state and nothing will ever change that. I think also that the city is still in the midst of an Astros hangover. The season started pretty early this year when the MLB playoffs were still going on and the Texans season had just gotten underway. And the schedule's been odd with the Rockets going back and forth from playing at home and on the road and with long layoffs between some games(they play only once in an 8-day span this week and next and it's at the Lakers).

I have a feeling(or maybe I'm just hopeful) that with this upcoming 7-game homestand, things will finally start to pick up. They've got some good teams coming in during that stretch, the holidays will be approaching, the Texans season will be mercifully winding down, and their win total will be even higher which will finally get more fans to take notice.

One of the best things this group can do for ourselves and management is to go down there and collect and post interview answers (why are you late, why are others late, what can be done) of those in the lower bowl and see what they actually say.

I do crowdsourcing for a living, and it works best understanding the target audience first, and that’s the actual people in the lower bowl.

Not sure what you can do....
This team has been dealing with horrible attendance since its move to TC it seems like.
Maybe moving the arena out the city similar to what the Pistons had at The Palace?‍♀️....
I know traffic inbound around gametime is pretty ridiculous, it's been times when I have left my house 1 hour before gametime and still get to the gates late and I live 15-20 min from downtown.
When the Rockets played at The Summit they always had big crowds early.
Maybe this is why Tillman is thinking about moving the team practice arena elsewhere so that he could possibly up and move the whole game arena as well....
But what would he do with TC since it's still fairly new? From what I understand TC is the cheapest arena built among arenas built around the same time.
I can def see Tillman putting the Rockets game arena somewhere in Sugarland or around the Beltway where traffic is a bit more reasonable.
If he moves the team arena I would def love to go and see it especially if it's AS FAR AWAY FROM DOWNTOWN AS POSSIBLE, HOU downtown is toxic during traffic hour, sigh.

There's another 10 or 20 years on the TC lease so the Rockets aren't going anywhere. It's in a good spot in downtown right now. That area will change soon with more people moving closer to the city but I think you're right ease of access is an issue. The Rockets were winners when they played in the Summit. There were big crowds early because the won championships and the city wasn't as large as it is now. Greenway area can be hellish around rush hour these days so its not the location. Win a championship and things will change. Hard to make new fans when they were either not in the playoffs or lost in the first round from 98-2008. Had a good series and lost to LA only to lose Yao then have to rebuild for another 5 or 6 years. Dwight Howard's last season debacle and the 2nd round loss to the Spurs when Kawhi was injured probably didn't help much either. Rockets have a good start this year but I'm pretty sure a bunch of Houstonians burned through cash for Harvey and Astros WS run. When the Rockets get to the playoffs this year there will be a more rabid crowd.

    Solution?

Win a championship. I guarantee you those lower bowl seats will look like OKCs the next year and maybe for the next 5 years.

The heaven seats for the Knicks are $105... TC is most likely half the price or less than half. haha

Honestly this season it’s been a lot better. I was at the game against the nuggets last week and the stadium was more full than ive ever seen it in the regular season. And that’s against a mediocre team

Not true imo. Maybe like 400-500 but definitely not above 1000

My concern here isn’t the people that are arriving late, it is rather Rockets fans who have become apathetic to actually going to games.

I’m not the team owner or a Rockets employee so I have no financial interest here. My interest is in having fans there that are loud so that the crowd atmosphere benefits the team like it does in for other contenders.

The team isn't seeing the TV views of the stands during the game anyway so just having those lower bowl seats that the cameras focus on full isn't even the hill I'm trying to die on here.

I think part of the issue is the immense negative media coverage from TNT and ESPN clouding the casual fans perception of the team. I personally have friends that would not attend a game because they have such a negative perception of Harden and when I ask them why they don't like him I get the typical tropes that are pushed by National on air talent (Barkley, Beadle, Shaq, Nichols, McHale now as well).

The die hard fans are still going to come, but this casual fan demographic is very susceptible to influence factors, and when these are the voices they are hearing they are going to believe them because of their platform.

This is why I don't think it is a price issue, I think it is a culture issue with an ease of attendance issue mixed in there as traffic and sprawl having to be accounted for.

Eggball= on free TV week after week
NBA= you need a mid-level cable plan to watch.
    Casual fans decline

Most of the time I have to repeatedly ask for restaurants/bars to change the channel to watch games. Pathetic

Good take, I can’t disagree on anything you said here. I think ppl in HOU know how disappointing this team can be based on the history so putting too much stock into them too early can def end very bad and very quickly.

Parking is like 10 dollars for a parking lot a block away. Food is let’s say 20 a person so budget that out to about 100 dollars total. If you’re looking for courtside seats then sure it’s 1000+ but realistically you can get lower bowl seats for about 55 a piece of resale and honestly anywhere on the lower bowl is a good seat (unless you’re right behind the rowdies). I spent under 120 dollars to go to a game including parking and I had low corner seats which are some of the best seats in the stadium imo. A family of 4 doesn’t need to have club seats with first class service to have a good time at a game.
