So you support a child rapist instead of a former prosecutor who's personal support of a woman's right to choose is the same as the law of the land. Its not a "defending behavior" as if Moore is telling off-color jokes or belching in public. He is accused of being a child rapist.

The case I'm making isn't to excuse the Republican party, I think my posting record is pretty clear in regard to the GOP, but it is to the nature of our system as a republican democracy (emphasis on small 'r' and 'd') and the Constitution. The parties are important and wield inordinate power. Ultimately though it is voters who elect the representatives and the only constitutional duty those representatives have is to their constituents. Representatives can change parties and they can leave parties. If a party wants to force out a representative for anything there is nothing stopping that representative from switching parties or becoming an independent.

The parties certainly do have responsibility to who they've put up for election, endorsed funded and campaigned for. Once that person is elected though I would put the responsibility of removal to constituents and the instituation as a whole. To leave it just to the parties is one giving them even more power than they have but is also letting the voters off the hook. Consider if Roy Moore is elected he will be elected even though he wasn't the endorsed candidate and it was the voters of Alabama who put him there. I would say those voters also have a responsibility rather than just the GOP.

As I mentioned, I wasn't sure if you were intending to make a political play, but what you are saying will certainly be the excuse that is made for not holding their own accountable.

Under normal circumstances, our Democracy through the power of voters, would handle a situation like Roy Moore getting elected, but its unique in the fact that it is Alabama, and we are in a unique situation with the president, who carries a cultish like voting base in the area, is publicly backing a pedophile.

The hypocrisy with you conservatives is comical. Good thing cognitive dissonance is not fatal.

from the comments: "What I'm reading here is that if there were no women in the workplace, then this wouldn't be a problem. I think it's clear that NBC has only one course of action to take..."

I think it's more about corporate (parent) optics and advertiser/consumer opinion than "decency".

To consider Hollywood being more decent than Washington is like comparing the odor between two outdoor farm animals.

Can't always pin down where the **** is, but it's there.

Why are these women choking up for an alleged sexual harasser? And the victims...
You don't sign up and dream about a lifetime politician position and not see it through. This is what you get when you offer unlimited 6 year and 2 year terms. Pass term limits and this along with a bunch of other shady crap will get fixed.

Remember everyone hated Bryant Gumble and used to feel sorry for Katie Curic.

NBC is probably happy to ditch the salary. Why do those guys make so much money. I understand it's about the show's popularity but really they're just up there yapping.

That being said I'm down with Hoda and Kathy Lee. They're hilarious

Probably because people aren't the sum of one incident or even one area of failing and offensiveness in their lives. So it's normal that they would be choking up for their colleague who also happened to be capable of being a sexual harassing a-hole.

Keep in mind NBC News was the organization that tried to keep Ronan Farrow's story on Harvey Weinstein from going public.

Before, I used to think they were running cover for a big democratic donor. But now, I'm beginning to think they knew how vulnerable they were with regards to Lauer and what they knew.

Sheesh....mangement at NBC News needs a BIG shakeup.
