More important: Championship or Media Respect

Discussion in 'Houston Rockets: Game Action & Roster Moves' started by tinman, Nov 27, 2017.

Most Important thing is

  1. Championships and media hating us for winning for 20 plus years

    93.9%
  2. No Championships but lots of love from First Take, Inside the NBA, and whiny rappers who autotune

i respect you and all, @tinman, but i can't say media isn't important even if 'chips are everything.

it's a preference. you can either have haters who doubt us the whole journey while we win a chip, and the victory will be even sweeter, or be surrounded by bandwagon fans and media professionals who bombard us with love.

i prefer getting the respect while winning. it generates revenue for teams, puts people in seats, etc.

No you're completely wrong... I just showed how you were wrong and that's not true.... Also go look what was actually said about how Dream felt about Robinson winning it.

Nice strawman... Who was talking about NBC....??? The awards you named are voted on by the MEDIA... so you're 100% wrong.

    I'm completely right.

I lived the Clutch City era and experience

when Gallery Furniture was a tent

when we watched the Rockets for free on Channel 20

    I'm a 99er

Calm down Trump..... Being dusty doesn't make you valid.... Just old and incorrect.

    Now stick to the facts.

You futile attempt to insult me is like an ant vs Thanos

    I've met Akeem and Hakeem

you think you know more about this than me?? that's a really a Dream

To the NEWB, who didn't understand the Dream motivation vs Robinson

    http://houston.cbslocal.com/2015/06...from-the-1994-1995-houston-rockets-title-run/

WORRELL: David gave a very good acceptance speech, but he tried to remember the names of the previous winners, and that was his mistake, because he brought up Jordan, Russell, everybody but one name…the previous MVP, who was standing right there. It was the biggest mistake Robinson could make. He forgot Olajuwon.

I think about the Rockets Championships EVERY DAY

You only thought about it today, because you are trolling this thread to attempt to prove a pure fan wrong

    EVERY DAY

That's good.... I'm glad you could talk in 1999....

But apparently you didn't know the media voted on accolades such as DPOY or MVP.... Or maybe it was just a lapse in your ripe old age.

Now what other facts do you have to present me?

you fool, the that's my trophy story is in 1995, not 1994.

And that's the Robert Horry version of the story, not the Dream version.

And in 1994, Hakeem didn't care about who voted for him or not. He was busy dominating the league at both ends of the court.

If you dominate at both ends, there's not something you can say against you.

Like Harden and defense. Or winning record.

The Rockets got the top 2 records in the NBA in 1994.

I know, cause I was there.

where you there? if you weren't then go find a time machine .

OLAJUWON: (Laughs) There’s no way I can change people’s perception of that night. You cannot question the legitimacy of David’s MVP that season. He was the MVP. They won 62 games; he dominated the league. We didn’t win enough games. You have to win.

OLAJUWON: David and I for many years, we would neutralize each other. So at my position, for my team to win in that series, I felt responsible that I had to play like an MVP to neutralize him. So I went on the attack.

Oh wow Worrell eh? Guess you had to quote someone older than you and not a player or coach.

    On Robinson winning MVP

Rudy: "I'm sure it was extra motivation for Hakeem going into that series"

“Hakeem comes to the bench,” Smith said, “and he goes, ‘Kenny, I’m going to go get my award.’ I said, ‘I knew you were upset!’

Horry: 'That's my trophy. How they going to disrespect me like that and give him my trophy?' That's what he was saying. We all looked at Dream and were like, 'Yeeeah!

    Now settle down old timer.

Hakeem Olajuwon facts and stories should only be told by people who lived them in Houston and listen to the Geto Boys

Not people who listen to Drake.

How one can cite the Kardashians and 'media loving' people being the fault of a single generation, while not noticing that the TnT crew falls under that same umbrella and caters to that very same audience is pretty confusing.

The TnT show wins Emmys because Charles and Shaq argue over meaningless topics with no substance the vast majority of the time, and the public likes that and the possibility of any kind of drama that could arise between them.

How any actual nba fan can stomach that show truly surprises me. And man, I really tried and gave it a fair shake. I enjoy basketball analysis and highlights after a night in the NBA, not the nonsensical theatrics that are put on display during that show.

They run through highlights and everyone talks over each other the entire damn time. Usually making some unfunny joke and beating it to the death in the first place. Or, hey, Barkley is going to complain about looking at the highlights of a game he didn't even enjoy after he barely paid attention to it in the first place. How incredibly charming.

Kenny runs to the big screen to go over a play and try to explain what's happening to the audience. But wait, Shaq is making one of his signature witty comments in the middle of it and completely throws off the flow of what could possibly be the only decent part of the show.

Cut to a five minute segment making fun of how Kenny runs to the screen. Slow-mo, the whole works. Then, we get a strong 10 minutes of each member's (mostly Barkley) head being photoshopped onto someone else's body! Now that's fun, right?!

But wait, there's more. Let's check in at area 21 where KG is asked a very general question about a team or player, and after a brief, rarely insightful response, then wrap that up with him and Charles yelling at each other about skinny jeans or some other nonsense for a strong couple of minutes.

And then finally, if you're really lucky, you might get to see all of them put some sneakers on and have a free throw contest or something. Really compelling stuff.

As you can tell, I find the inside the NBA show absolutely awful, and borderline insulting. It caters to the most casual of fan, and reflects that entirely with the content they provide.

I work night shift sometimes and when I get home from work right before 7am I rush to turn on nba tv for nba gametime, and if I see the TnT crew sitting there, it's such a bummer. A kick in the dick after a long 12 hour shift. And these ****ing guys are plastered all over every years 2k now too. There is no escaping them.

I mean, if you're into super light hearted and lazy nba coverage, and somehow find these guys absolutely hilarious, more power to you. I just wish they didn't have the biggest NBA show right now. I need something more.

I'd rather have a former MVP predict the MVP than Stephen A Smith YELL REALLY LOUD HIS CHOICE BECAUSE IF HE YELLS LOUDER IT MAKES IT MORE LEGIT
