I absolutely agree it would be an aggressive gamble but you have to also look ahead. I am really thinking of next year and not necessarily star chasing or Boogie. For salary reasons it would have to involve Capela and Gordon and it is all we could give and may not be enough. I am not the biggest fan of it for MANY reasons but the cap circumstances and paying Capela dictate why I created the thread for discussion. Even if we got Wade it puts us against the max this year. In the bizarro world where we get LBJ, we are getting him no matter what. In the more likely world without LBJ we have to pay Capela or Cousins and we have the full Bird rights. To add LBJ, all players are going to have to share what is left after Beard's and Nene's contract. You have to do a lot of cutting anyway. If LBJ is not coming everyone plays you get a max, you get a max, you get a max with CP3, Melo, and LBJ and you have Bird rights on Ariza's new contract. Operating over the cap you get to keep everyone and get the taxpayer MLE and the ability to add minimum players to round out the rest of the roster with ring chasers. We can't do a S&T or full MLE again so with our without LBJ the backside of this plays out either way. We will be a big taxpayer.
I'm sorry I don't mean to be that dude but do you watch this team? He doesn't fit at all. Morey would never trade for a player like Cousins. Philosophical he doesn't meet the mold.
Since it's a rental guy who's a mental headcase (besides the point)... I don't think the Pelicans make the playoffs which makes it highly likely they deal Cousins. In this scenario, I think they ship Cousins and we would certainly be in the running (I wouldn't make deal tho in my opinion). Buddy Hield, Tyreke Evans, Langston Galloway and its 2017 first-round and second-round pick is what snagged Boogie but it might actually be less because of the rental tag. IF YOU MADE THE DEAL: Capela is the obvious guy you deal, his contract and upside is what makes him the main centerpiece but I have a hard time finding ways to make the salaries work without giving up Gordon. NG Bros just don't add up and they will probably be dealt soon either way and you don't have picks worth value. Not to mention, chemistry probably taking a hit. It sounds great in theory but it shakes the core of the team too much.
No... only because there is a slight chance that banana boat 2018 will take place in Houston.... and SLIGHT chance is worth the risk
starting to think he will be available for cheap/harden is probably recruiting him hardcore behind the scenes. 1) could he coexist with Capela? 2) Wouldn't it be the ultimate Morey move to get Ryno back to New Orleans in a boogie trade demand to houston?
