I was actually reffering to Qi +Black. He's our only potential bait to a good trade. We need to win this year, or at least show a good effort in the confrence finals. other than that this season will be considered a failure. Capela is perfect in our offense, we're not giving that up. Gasol is a difference maker. He can be what we're missing in the playoffs. But without Capela, I dont think Gasol can thrive in that PickNroll-heavy-above-the-rim offense. [And definately Capela+ Anderson > Gasol]
From what I've always heard about Marc, he views Memphis in the same way Dirk views Dallas. There's a sense of profound loyalty there. If something has changed, I'd be very surprised.
Gasol consistently plays defense, has three point range, and can punish Golden State for going small. He's also a good playmaker with great basketball IQ. He would be a huge addition talent-wise even over the blossoming Capela, but his age is a huge concern. He turns 33 in a couple months. Even though I expect his game to age well it's a ten year age gap between him and Capela. And we'd have trouble matching salaries anyway. If he were five years younger you do everything you can to trade for him. Of course, I'm being a hypocrite because I'm hoping Lebron chooses to come to Houston in the offseason and he's a month older than Gasol. But he's the best player in the league and is having arguably his best season ever. What a genetic freak.
More has wanted Gasol for years. He will gladly trade a restricted free agent to be Capela and anyone else not name Paul or Harden for him.
Love Marc Gasol and think hes right at the top of bigs in the league but i think the time to obtain him has passed.
You dont think @junior breaks news? I think he actually breaks the most news on this site. @swyyyguy and @basketballholic are 2nd and 3rd imtfho
definitely do not see this happening and im leaning towards that hoping it wont happen. need all the cap space and flexibility for next off season. its going to be madness.
I agree the athleticism within our squad would take a major **ding** if we dealt Capela for Gasol but the offensive skill plus defensive rebounding and positioning Gasol provides in the paint against guys like Draymond, Gobert, Jokic, Nurkic, etc. is something that we would be gaining as well against teams we could likely face in the playoffs. Basically what Gasol lacks in athleticism will essentially be replaced with pure skill, savviness, and technique. I'd make a deal centered around Capela for Gasol any day.
Swyguy is an Astros fan. I respect that. But he is also a mavs fan. Hollic is a basement dweller/cheeto residue fapper
think he has still got 2 good years left in the tank, capela plus future 1, 2 rounders! make it happen morey!!
Gasol has always been a mediocre rebounder for his height and wingspan, most of his contributions to the team would come from playing 5 out and not sacrificing any defense. BTW: Jokic is a horrid defender, his cheat-code offensive game at C makes him a top 10 player according to advanced statistics, but he's undersized and his conditioning isn't all the way there.
