He's currently being beat out by Amir Johnson so no he's probably not going to help the Rockets this year. Any team would want him as a youngster who can grow with a young team, but how much would they pay for him at this point is uncertain. For a contending team like the Rockets, if he's not locked in cheap for years to come, and isn't going to beat out the likes of Tarrick Black, then there really is no point.
how do you propose we get him?? we would have to trade some of our assets.. Nene doesnt have strong value, or something sixers would want in an aging back up center.. Also I am not totally sold on him as he is not a strong rebounder, and i don't see him thriving in rockets pick and roll system.. Id much rather we get a high motor athletic player with a jump shot like Kenneth Farid.
Okafor destroys on the p-n-r. He generally is great on offense. His defense is what sucks. When Okafor becomes a FA, he will look for a team that will give him starter minutes.
I fear Okafor is going to end up being another Monroe, Kanter, Vucevic...good players but just not starters in this league.
don't just look at that on face value, it is clear that he will be traded and they don't have him in their game plans
Don’t be so quick to count him out. Don’t you guys remember that fight he had with an average Boston man. He did win . No but seriously I do not think this would be the right time nor team for him atm. I feel like he can be good, but like most, he requires experience and playing time . Being that we have a couple projects as it is. No .
How many times have we heard similar things about young players that are benched on other teams and people here say "well if he just comes here" etc? D'Antoni runs 8 deep, sometimes only 9 deep. HE WONT PLAY HERE. Simple as that. What is the point if he's not locked up on a rookie contract for 2 to more 4 years where you can have plans for him beyond this year?
Okafor is garbage, he has one move in the post, is unathletic, doesn't even try on defense, and makes the offense worse when on the court with iso after iso. It doesn't help that he has no jumpshot whatsoever, so you can throw spacing out the window. He is the perfect example of why you can't judge a player by high school and college stats against children and future desk jockeys.
No We’re pretty much set at the five. The only tweak I can foresee is maybe adding a Tyson Chandler type as insurance if/when he gets bought out.
Why are people saying that Jah's a good pick-and-roll player? He's not. He has great hands and a wide catch radius, but he doesn't possess explosive athleticism rolling to the basket and he's godawful at setting screens. He gets most of his points from post ups, or by taking his man off the dribble in isolation. Not a good fit here. Pass.
