The slave trade created a specific new sub race/culture that is known as 'African American'. Totally different culture and history than Africans.
So all “white” people have the same culture in America that they would in their ancestral home land? The whole premise was that there is no “being white” because whites are made up of several nationalities. It’s the exact same as “being black” then, several nationalities look “black” but are different in culture. Same as “white”. It was a stupid comment. The color of your skin is not the same as your culture or heritage. If there is no “being white” then there is no “being black”. Black American culture does not give exclusivity to “being black”
It's taking pride in something you're a part of, the result of, and responsible for its continuation. Being proud of what makes you different isn't silly at all.
When you're a descendant of ancestors that are kidnapped, raped, murdered, enslaved, and deprived of their language, heritage, traditions, and religion it's tough to know what country you're from. "Being black" is a very intentional creation by those who invented race to unite Europeans, who would typically hate each other, against sub-human Africans.
Shapiro's a smart guy with a bright future, but I think he's letting recent fame/attention get to his head too much. I think he likes the smell of his own farts a little bit too much right now. As a result, I suspect that he's not well-liked among middle-aged and older people (including those that are conservative), particularly those with a blue-collar or working-class background. Slowing down a little & taking a step back could be good for him in the long run. He also has a pretty large target on his back, so he'd better be careful with his words and actions. In today's culture, all it may take is one substantial mistake for the vultures to be all over his ass. Overall though, chances are that the average Joe/Jane (regardless of political leanings) doesn't even know who Ben Shapiro is, because they don't follow politics all that much. And out of those that do, many of them don't care about him in any way, shape or form. He's probably just another fast-talking guy in front of a camera to them.
I still find such pride silly. (Using me for an example) The idea that I should be proud because my mom decided to drop me out within the borders of the USA is... silly. Or at least, it's a misuse of the sentiment of pride, and a potentially dangerous one (see: recent NYT profile of white supremacist). Further, in my mind, to say that I'm "responsible for its continuation" is incorrect. I'm not responsible for anything like that because I never signed up for it or agreed to it in any way. Anyway, as someone who never felt national pride or irish* pride or religious pride I always loved that bit (I was sitting for the pledge and anthem long before Kaep). I like it because he expresses what I always felt but was too dumb to put into words myself. Of course I don't even know if Carlin really believed that himself or if it was just a bit for a show, but for me personally I liked it. It's not for everyone - or even most - but I stick by it. * I don't know if or how Irish I actually am. My dad told me were we of that heritage when I was little but later told me he didn't know for sure.
I don't know if this is true. It all depends on their fan base. If they peddle and suck up to the right people they can become a hero with no repercussions for their actions. In new media its so easy to voice an opinion to a large population that some portion of it will agree with you whether you think the earth is flat or Xenu created humans.
I suspect that liberals do not spend much time thinking about Ben Shapiro. I also would not be surprised if most conservatives find Shapiro too "educated" for their tastes.
Shapiro is an entitled bratty idiot who just talks fast so other entitled bratty idiots think he is smart.
