Rockets Home record is 4-3 with losses to Memphis, Philadelphia and Toronto. Rockets are 28th in attendance in the NBA this season. Meaning Houston has lost its interest in basketball. Low attendance is affecting the team in several ways. Houston typically has a 57% chance of winning a home game compared to a 90% of winning a road game 1. At Home rockets drop to the 5th best offense in the NBA scoring 111.7 a game, on the road Houston scores 113.3 a game 2. On the road Houston has 15.5 TOV a game 16th in NBA. At home, the rockets increase to 18 TOV a game 28th in NBA. 3. At Home rockets shot 33.2% from 3 which is the 24th best in the NBA, on the road rockets shoot much better 36.6% from three and jump to 14th in nba. 4. In terms of FT% on the road the rockets are the best FT shooting team in the league shooting 84% attempting the 13th most FTs on the road in the league. While on the other hand, we get to the line the most in the NBA. But are 9th in free throw percentage missing more shots from line at home. 5. In terms of +/- 10 in nba at Home 2nd in nba on road Point is, with the Rockets attendance so low it is affecting the players. Show up to the games. Not saying it’s fans fault but its a mixture of Tilman and Fans fault. I’d think maybe, he should cheapen the tickets, make more ideas for people to come. We are a great team and that enough doesn’t drag an audience. Ref Stats.NBA.com https://www.teamrankings.com/nba/trend/win_trends/is_away?sc=is_away
Would just like to clarify, before this thread gets rolling, that the attendance ranks are typically off of raw total and not per game. So Rockets only having 7 home games so far skews slightly compared to a team like Dallas or Phoenix who have already had 11.
We are not 28th in attendance. That percentage is based on the total people attending home game this year. We've only played 7 while most teams have played 8 or 9.
That is winning % after leass than a quarter of the season. Nothing typical about it. Small sample size that will undoubtebly change.
99% of the tickets get sold pretty much every game, but only like 75-80% of the people actually show up...in some sections of the lower bowl u could damn near have a whole row to yourself some games then a lot of people who go don’t really want to cheer, yell, chant, etc...just sit down all game and give golf claps
The attendance number is also skewed by the fact that the first few coincided with an Astros playoff game.
Posting Home/Away stats to propose a reason based on low attendance is one thing, but saying we are 28th in attendance, because fans lost interest, is a wee bit different. You analytics on reason for low attendance in the first few games is questionable. Come on... we had one game on the same night as Yankees Game 7 at home. Then two Mondays (worst attendance day of the week), and a Sunday night when the Texans had a home game. I think those 4 games are skewing the 7 games a little. Rockets are not the 28th worst attended team. The Rockets are currently shooting a Franchise Record 82% from the free throw line this year. Even their 79% at Home would be our 5th highest FT% of all time. Aside from the fact we are breaking a franchise record at the line this year, it's random to think low attendance at home affects shooting at the line. Sorry, I can't subscribe to that idea.
I'm just wondering if you made a worthwhile comment in the last... say 4 months? Just asking. All I see is posts like "media conspiracy" and "Adam Silver destroys James Harden's career".
