i'm partial to stock android also (pixel 2 xl is nice... even the screen), but i'd be lying if i said i didn't like some of sammy's stuff. the secure folder and and the ability to force individual apps to use the full screen without having to use adb commands to name a couple.

Love the DAC feature, I have the G6 international version which has it instead of the wireless charging. If you get the LG G6+ through Amazon's Unlock Phone store, it has both DAC Sound and Wireless charging like the V30.

I wish they still released Google Play Editions of flagship devices, I would buy a S8, Note 8, LGV30 Google Play Edition in a heart beat

I learned this the hard way. Anyway the closest to stock android, other than the pixel, is the Motorola phones. Also, OnePlus 5 runs Oxygen OS which is close to stock, but still not as close as Motorola's are.

In fact, the oneplus 5 has better hardware than the Samsung galaxy s8.

I got a $200 ZTE phone. Has been great. Paying more than that for a phone is a waste. I mean just look at all the **** that OP typed that no one is going to read... such a waste.

    How do you figure this?

Samsung has a better screen, a better camera, expandable storage, wireless charging...

One Plus 5's main advantage is in 8 GB RAM vs 4 GB RAM.

I'm on the Note 5 still, I think the Note 8 looks pretty great, I don't use touchwiz, yes, I know it's technically still there. But after using swiftkey/different launcher I'm fine with it. I've used vanilla Android and I did like it too. But it's basically between the Note 8, maybe LG, or Oneplus phone for my next one. I'll probably get the Note. I run mine currently at the highest res for most icons/text etc. Also running textra still (pro version).

Note is the perfect size for people with big hands

Yeah I might consider one plus, but I really like the Note, even my 5 is working fine as is, really great phone. But Note 8 is sweet and definitely what I'm leaning towards

The oneplus 5 is like 200 dollars cheaper with better software and more memory. Nobody beats Samsung on display, but oneplus is still good and has snapdragon 835.

So yeah, the specs are very much in line.

I was just responding to your stance that One Plus has better hardware than the S8, which is incorrect. Bringing up the $200 price difference or the software doesn't change that almost every hardware aspect of the S8 is superior to the One Plus.

What is everyone's opinion on the essential phone?

Due for an upgrade and I'm not much of a tech guy. Like to keep things simple. Plus it helps that it is cheaper.

just switched from an AT&T S7 to the Pixel 2 with Google Fi. If you like simplicity, I'd recommend joining Fi.
