I got rid of Motion a few weeks back and haven't missed it at all. I thought I'd need it for getting home from work and wanting to see NBA clips that I missed, but it was just a loud mess that didn't really give me much. And if you have ESPNews, then Motion is useless. And why would I want to see MORE Eric Karabell? It seems like a neat idea, but it became really pointless for me after the initial spell. I just said "neat."
I have liked ESPN MOtion, it is pretty sweet. I love seeing the NBA clips on it when I miss them. It is so smooth and fast at loading.
I've got the browser running but can't seem to install a theme. I've tried it both ways and re-started but nothing is installed. Help.
Some of the themes listed don't work with Firefox, but worked with older versions. If you install them, nothing will happen. Try Pinball -- I know it works.
actually, i meant which do you prefer? i love firefox on windows, and tried it on OSX. it seemed a little buggy compared to camino. one major bug, at least on my system, is the address bar only shows the URL for the first tab when you've got several open. for now, i'll use safari and camino. firefox on OSX feels more like a port than a mac-centric app.
Yeah, I can see that. I like Safari for a lot of things, but the bookmarks are really bad. There is a bug that causes it to take FOREVER to pull up bookmarks or anything in the History list. It also has a tendency to freeze up on servers with certain dynamic content. If they fix that in 2.0, I'll probably continue using it along with FireFox. I like Camino too, but FireFox is the only one that seems to work on every type of site I've tried and neither Camino or Safari seem to do that.
I've tried both your suggestion and Rocket2K (Pinball and SkyPilot). I can' t get either one of them to install. I get the message that says they are installed, but when I re-start the computer... I don' t have them. The instructions specifically say to re-start the browser. Is that different from re-starting the computer?
This is lightyears ahead of IE with features I've always wanted but never thought a company would make possible. Thanks Uprising for the awsome heads up. The only kink I see is its incompatability with some Java programs, but I never liked gimmicky crap spewing from a frame anyways. If I had an option to turn off shockwave frames ala carte, that'd be something I'd pay for.
There is an extension that turns off Macromedia stuff until you approve it. That's what you mean, right? giddyup -- go back to tools->options and select the theme, press OK and then close the browswer and start it again -- see if that does it
the truely scary part of this is......this is still "technically" a beta version. Invisible fan... open source is still considered as inferior by the masses cause they dont understand how a bunch of random people working on a software project in their spare time can produce something better than a company that specializes in producing software. Also, when most people hear the term open source...if they even have a clue to what it is, they think Linux...which by most reports is something you shouldnt mess with unless you are a techie-type of person. Ill admit that Linux still requires a certain amount of technical know-how to get running right...but it is getting much better out of the box with each new version... As more programs like Firefox get widespread publicity...people will realize what a great thing open source is.
Firefox finally brought their browser up to standards. Of course, being on par with Google Chrome is irrelevant because a lot of people are too embedded into the Google ecosystem... With that being said I do have Firefox dev/stable edition as my goto for debugging when I'm doing Web Dev work.
Chrome is passable for me, Firefox needs to be way better than Chrome in order to get people to switch.
Firefox's big-bang update brings you speed and a new look Mozilla has doubled its web browser speed already and hopes to double it again in 2018. Say hello to Firefox Quantum. https://www.cnet.com/news/firefox-quantum-update-mozilla-brings-speed-and-a-new-look/
On mobile I use Mercury Browser. On Chromebook, obviously Chrome. At work we're restricted to Edge/IE. I have a desktop that I fire up once every 3 months or so... next time I do so I'll give new Firefox a try. It was my go-to PC browser for a long time before I just moved on to Chrome maybe 4-5 years ago.
New upgrade is very fast but I don't like how right edge of the tabs on top are slightly crooked and not a straight line. It's messing with my OCD.
