Nearly two weeks after an arrest warrant was issued for a New Mexico man running for Congress, police found him at an Albuquerque apartment complex.

What he’s been doing since the warrant was issued out of Santa Fe, is a mystery.

Are the Democrats coming to his defense?

Have you even heard 1 story about this guy till now?

He deserves his due process as do all accused. I'm just a bit surprised at the amount of coverage Moore has gotten in comparison to this story. Seems pretty hypocritical.

Moore is a well recognized name, this person in NM I have never heard about him before, so obviously he is going to get a lot less publicity.

Exactly. One is a republican. One is a democrat.

Both are scum but only one gets the "treatment".

    Another example of the hypocrisy.

I hadn't heard of him. A House seat is not as a big a deal as a Senate seat. Also, Moore made himself pretty famous with the upset win in the primary, and various outrageous stuff before then even. Also, it looks like the Second District has been going to Republicans by large margins and this Alcon probably didn't have any real chance of winning.

But, whatever the reason, I now know about him. You can string him up next to Moore. His first stalking conviction would have been enough to convince me not to vote for him if I was in his district.

It's funny that nowhere in the article you posted is the man identified as a Democrat. Obviously this is a story that the wingnuts are passing around on Facebook, Breitbart, Gateway Pundit, etc. Lol. Sad deflection between some nobody and the former Alabama Supreme Court justice.

Throw this guy in prison with Roy Moore. Case closed.

Yup, if the Democrats know about this person, they would not be defending him like Alabama GOP is doing for Moore.

I honestly don't care about the coverage amounts. Roy Moore is the height of evil and should not be allowed near Washington DC.

The person in this story you posted should and likely will drop out. No one is defending him. When I saw the story about Menendez and that he's considering staying in his seat, I was disappointed. I'm not a New Jersey resident or voter so not a whole hell of a lot I can do about it...though he certainly should resign.

That said, I don't think you'll see any Democrats using scripture to defend this guy. I don't think you'll see anyone from the national shows defending either of them. The only party currently defending a sexual predator is the GOP.

OP, as others have said, Senate versus House is a big deal.
Also, statutory rape stories for a conservative from the "party of values" in the deep south, with control of the Senate barely hanging in the balance... is much more "man bites dog" for selling ad time than... "purported Democratic candidate in weird state is acting weird and may actually be a perv," having no discernible effect on the solidly republican House.

Sometimes I think partisans on both sides work too hard to take umbrage with the referees / media.

Forget the media for a second...look right here in the D&D. There is an 8 page (and growing) thread about a candidate from Alabama being crucified by allegations of sexual misconduct from over 30 years ago. Meanwhile, the Menendez TRIAL and this stalking congressman who nobody heard of till today has almost zero attention.

Yes, the double standard is alive and well here in the D&D too.

Well, let's not go crazy here. Things would be different if he was a likely W in the fight for congressional majority. Democrats also have a way of rationalizing behavior when they have a lot to lose. Reminds me of some of the arguments people made in Clinton's defense, like that it was okay to perjure yourself when prosecutors ask about personal sexual stuff.

The Menendez stuff has been around forever now. It's not new news and I'm not sure what we'd even argue about at this point. I blame you for not starting a new thread on it and saying something about Zechariah to get us all riled up.

With Moore, there were 30 corroborative testimonies to back up what the women were saying. He was in a race in which Trump was first against him but then cheered for him. Moore had more renown for his previous antics. So he's going to get more coverage, not because of the party with which he is affiliated, but with his him having more 'celebrity' than this guy from NM. If the guy from NM is guilty punish him to the full extent of the law.

How about arguing about the coverage difference between a sitting Senator with a D by his name and a candidate with an R by his name? Heck, only 2 posts above, you made that point right?

And I blame you for the same. We both have thread starting ability here don't we?

Of course we all circled wagons like good party monkies when Wiener started showing his Weiner pics...the first time.

Those sluts just wanted to lie, slander and profit off his good name!

    Is this a Trump rorschach?

Sorry, but I disagree about the reasons for the coverage. Maybe if this was the first time I would agree with ya? But its not. Look at how many times Wiener had to be caught before he received the "treatment".

You guys realize that there's still a primary for this in June with other Democratic candidates? He's one of several running for that seat. For reference, the 2nd district is a Republican leaning seat in New Mexico with the incumbent running for governor in 2018. Its a "winnable" seat in the right conditions which the Democrats previously won in 2008.

This guy simply won't win the primary now and hopefully he'll be properly prosecuted in the process.
