What team with max cap space is going to offer Capela the max? Which one?
Restricted free agency is 100% the way to play it.

His defense and rebounding we’re great last time. Also he was blasting off to the rim every time and at least getting a foul.

i don't know, and am not even looking into it. Teams can clear up cap room by the way....we'll just rehash this argument once he gets his big money.

The LA Lakers seem like an obvious team. Pairing him with Ball, Ingram, and potentially their incoming 2018 rookie (if they don't have to move their pick) seems like an obvious fit. They will go after Paul George, and others like Lebron, but I highly doubt any superstar is signing on to be the first star player to lead the pups. I think Capela is a pretty large target with them given their circumstance.

Dallas and Chicago are two others as well.

Capela does enough things well to be "the answer'.

    - He's mobile
    - He can catch nearly every pass
    - He's not a FT liability
    - He rebounds and blocks

There isn't a multitude of Centers we should fear. Fear us !!!

    https://basketball.realgm.com/wiret...int-Capela-To-Become-One-Of-NBAs-Best-Centers

The Houston Rockets will need Clint Capela to take yet another step in his development if they are to fully challenge the Golden State Warriors.

With a veteran roster, Capela is one of the Rockets' only players that still has room to grow. Capela currently ranks fifth in the NBA in PER.

"The only way [to overcome the Warriors] is to develop near-elite two-way players," Daryl Morey said. "I think Clint has that potential. He's on the way. He took a big step forward last year. It's a lot to put on one guy, but we need one more step, at least."

"To me, it's just a matter of time," Mike D'Antoni said. "I'll be very surprised if he doesn't become, if not the best center in the league, one of the best. I'll be shocked."

Caepla will be a restricted free agent this offseason.

"We'll have him here as long as he'll have us," Morey said. "He couldn't price himself out."

    deserves its own thread.

    I'm serious.

There are two discussions here, imo: (1) Is he the answer -- this thread, and (2) at what price, starting with Morey's quote. I can't believe Morey said that publicly. The fact he said it publicly is shocking enough, and worth its own thread.

Lastly, the fact the article misspelled Capela so badly is worth its own thread ... right @KlutchQT

Capela is our best option at Center unless one of two things happens.

Marc Gasol all of a sudden wants to be a Rocket (won't happen).
Lebron James wants to come over an be a Rocket - and become the greatest passing center in the history of the game.

before you bltch and moan, come up with an alternative or a player that you think is better or can replace Capela first.

The next evolution is being to pass. On one PnR play Clint got double teamed and tried to pass to a cutting Ariza underneath, but he passed it over his head. It was a great idea and it's nice that he can read the right play out of a collapsing defense, but he actually has to complete those passes.

HP can you explain with poor words what does that ("We'll have him here as long as he'll have us," Morey said. "He couldn't price himself out.") mean? I'm not sure i get it...

    "We will match any offer."

Also, in the context of Les saying in May (or so), "No one left Houston because they wanted to." apparently, Morey's statement "as long as he'll have us" could mean Capela might be the first to leave because they chose to.
