If the bellwether for shitty presidents for each party shakes out as Carter and Trump, the Democrats come out looking like demi gods.

The George Will/Kristol whatever you want to say about them but at least they are smart...wing of the GOP has fled from the MAGA in droves.

I recognized about a dozen names here whose opinions I respect, whether I agree with them or not: Drezner, Volokh, O'Rourke...

    lessons learned from Democrat wins

    • A Trump-style campaign without Trump is a risky proposition
    • Trumpism begets renew vigor of the Democratic coalition (young, blue-collar, minority, women), the same voters that had powered Obama to two terms in the White House
    • Trump, at least in Virginia urban centers, is a lead balloon
    • The victory went beyond Virginia, extends to NJ, Maine, Ut, Minn, Wa

These guys aren't dumb. They know that Trump is a ticking time bomb politically. They distanced themselves early and often. When the dust settles and the GOP is to be rebuilt, they will be the only ones left.

I just hope the GOP can eventually be rebuilt into a serious party with serious ideas that can act seriously when dealing with a serious democratic party with serious ideas who can act seriously to deal with the really serious problems facing our country.

yes, she spoke and listened to her voters. she made it about the issues instead of her identity while her opponent was obsessing over where people peed, calling her a man (which you just did as well) and going around calling himself the leading homophobe in the state (yes, he actually said that).

    apologies for what?

trump is inspiring people to get into politics, which i think is a good thing. but its entirely a reaction against him, not something where people are inspired by him in a positive way...they are inspired to fight against him and what he is trying to do to this country..

incumbents hardly ever lose elections...i think i remember reading they have something like a 90% reelection rate. but this 25 year incumbent who led the push for a bathroom bill and is proudly anti-gay just lost to a transgendered chick with no political experience. haha.

yes, because you are the only one who predicted that there would be a backlash against trump. you are the only one who predicted that trump would motivate people to run for political office.

    haha.

i'm the only one who said that trump winning was a good thing for these very reasons. you guys were too busy crying your eyes out that your corrupt queen lost while i was happy because these things don't happen if that corrupt scumbag wins.

Are you going to tell us that it would be a good thing to let the government default and fail would be a good thing, because then we can start over again?
