Arrogance and thinking your opinion is fact on a subjective matter is a sign of delusion of grandeur. But please, stay in your fantasy world.
Mid pointers r part of the game, but y take those when u can get closer for higher chance shot or take a 3 pointer which is worth more? We must b doing something right if we r numero uno in the tough West rn.
Not me bro. The 14th overall pick years still haunt me. My posts on this bbs have usually been harden centric to a fault even. He is my favorite houston sports athlete that ive ever followed. 2nd favorite is lance berkman
You're right man. Looking at statistics within the correct context is deluding me. What was I thinking?
Darn it, you're right. Correct context is when we take the poor offensive performance of a team missing its second best scorer and still leading the league in winning % and then compare that to the most individually talented offensive team in NBA history and deduce that the difference in success is because they let an all-time elite player take mid range shots while we don't allow James Harden and Ryan Anderson to use their mediocre skillset in the middle. Will you pray for me to find faith o context king?
Never claimed this, but go on with your narrative. You keep using the Warriors as an example, not me. I said they understand the importance of mixing it up. Harden mediocre in the middle? Wooooww...I don’t think a prayer could save you from yourself.
Great, you finally admit you believe in a myth. The "importance of mixing it up" is total mythology, there is no basis for it, there is no evidence to support that it improves a team's offensive efficiency vs its talent level. It's just something you imagine to be true. And until you bring forth evidence showing a LINK between taking mid range shots and elevated efficiency, it should be treated as the fairytale that it is. Now please, I'm trying to reconcile hating the Mavericks and praying to the lord almighty of mid range Dirk Nowitzki. It's so confusing.
No it’s not, it’s common sense. Scenario: team A vs. team B. Team A likes to shoot a lot of threes and attack the basket, do not have a lot of set plays, pick and roll a lot and do not have a lot of ball movement aside from outside the arc (drive and kick). Team B calls plays for bigs, guards and forwards on all areas of the floor, have a lot body and ball movement, have a variety of sets they like to use and depending on each game their area of attack will vary. Honestly and objectively, if you can, which team is strategically harder to guard, more likely to adapt and has a higher chance of winning in a 7 game series? Granted, both teams are about equal talent wise. I’d say team B. I am not saying team A can’t win, but come playoff time chances are higher for team B to get a higher percentage of shots made and ability to take team A out of their game. Also, it’s not like a team has won a trophy or even has gone to the finals with our strategy. There’s no evidence for your claims. Now if we had a big 3 who could all shoot the three and attack the basket with a high chance of putting pressure on defenses to get a high percentage shot, a lob, a kick out or the foul, then by all means try as we could thrive with our current strategy. It’s a risk, but it would be one worth taking. Right now we’re not that kind of team and you have seen what teams can do to us when we keep jacking up threes and missing them but continue to launch. Even mediocre teams have a chance to stay in the game or beat us. I rather we diversify our offense and call plays that are for areas between the paint and 3pt arc. If you seriously believe it doesn’t help if this team takes more shots from that area, especially when threes don’t fall - due to teams keying in on limiting them -then you are clearly in denial.
I mean what can I say. This post makes me question whether you even understand statistics at a fundamental level. This is not how logical arguments are made. You are literally just telling a story. Just like people out at sea used to think their horizon is the horizon. Your personal observation is common sense to you, and meaningless to the truth. The truth is we are the best performing offensive team vs our talent >> for us to finish so close to the Warriors offensively with Harden/Ryno/Ego vs Curry/Durant/Thompson is just an insane feat made possible by these new ideas you continue to devalue. This experiment is repeatable and keeps showing absurdly great results. There's a direct link. WE SHOULDN'T BE SCORING THIS MUCH.
