https://www.washingtonpost.com/loca...e285c7f4512_story.html?utm_term=.78204c60cfe1 Interesting notes - apparently the right-wing mob squad went after her Yoga Studio as well demanding she be fired. Her work fired her despite her post not being connected to them (they only knew because she told them). The same company did not fire a male executive for cursing at liberals in social media under a company social media account (he was given a warning). Given how much our right-wing friends are so upset with PC culture and censorship in the workplace. What do they think in this case? Since she is a liberal it is ok to fire her right?
Don't agree with it and never have. Employers should respect the boundary between professional and private lives and the rights of each realm. Unfortunately, they don't and society's outlook is shifting towards work being able to dictate what citizens do in their private lives.
Connecting PC Culture and Censorship in the Workplace is so laughable and just proves you don't know what you're talking about. And guess what, I think she has the right to flip anyone off and I also think a company has the right to employ or not employ whomever they want. But to perform an action and not be accept any resulting consequences is PC/pussyfication of America. The folks who demanding she be fired are also pussyification of America and shouldn't be necessary for either person involved. If they only fired her because of that pressure than fack them too, because their also PC/pussyfied. She flipped of POTUS, own it and whatever comes with it and move on. They fired an employee, own it and whatever comes with it and move on. Everybody else stfu.
This is nice sounding horseshit that even you don't believe. Yea I'm sure you would happily hire a neo-nazi or ms-13 member in their private lives to work at your donut shop because they don't bring private lives into professional life. Cut the bullshit. Talking about respect, you know what people should respect? The **** they do and say. Do everything you mean to and own it. Don't shy away from it, don't excuse it, don't hide it, etc... if people were more open and honest it would be better. Apologizing is a waste of everyone's time just ask McNair. Uncle Bob should have said, I said it, you misunderstood it, I intend to move on, and so should you. The other folks should have said we heard you, we don't believe we misunderstood, and we will move on. Then both do what they got to do. But this whole lines in the sand, we won't move on until, etc... it's all bullshit just like your post. Another example, you've ever bought a product sold by Nestle, Nike, Apple, Wal-Mart, H&M, Disney, etc... all use or have used child labor. Of course you have just like I have. I bought knowing what I know about their labor forces but I don't lie to myself that I care about those children. I clearly don't hate or go out of my way to not care but I only really care about myself because I still bought the **** just like everybody else. But I'm not afraid to admit it. You shouldn't be either.
Honestly, if they don't bring that baggage to the work place, I couldn't care less as long as they are fulfilling their job duties. Typically, those types of people will have some overlapping personality trait that I wouldn't work with and that candidate would get fired or not hired to begin with. But if a neo-Nazi employee is able to serve any of my minority customers fairly with a smile and respect at my hypothetical donut shop while treating his fellow employees professionally, then I can't find a fault with that.
What if their behavior brings negative publicity to your establishment, either implicitly or explicitly?
Release a statement saying I respect the boundaries for my employee's work and private lives and that this employee has performed his job duties well and without prejudice to all my customers. Then ride out the SJW storm that'll blow over when the next "controversy" goes viral because those parasites have less attention span than non-medicated ADHD kids and are only looking to stir the pot. I'm not sweating losing the business of some 13-year old edge lord on the other side of the world.
"Woman fired for flipping of Prez Motorcade" If she was able to physically overturn the motorcade, using just her brute strength or her mind, I think getting fired is the least we could do. That's some X-men style **** and just a dangerous thing to do, whether or not you like the president. If she has these kinds of super-powers, just from doing yoga, I hope DARPA is doing some yoga research. Freaking scary. I have done some yoga and only really hurt my shoulder.
Because you're a common sense guy and what you are saying goes against common sense. You might "want" to act that way but you wouldn't and you know you can't. It's like CYE, that Larry David character in CYE is the Larry David he and we all wish we could be but we can't.
*shrug* Everything is becoming advertisement. Every moment of your life is an advertisement for your company. when your life infringes on their ability to make money . . . they will cut you loose In America, Company Profits >> You. So no one has a major issue with you being fired because of it. Rocket River
I don't. Because it's much easier for the 'company to get over it' than a individual getting over loosing their job. There is a disproportionate amount of burden there. One should not be fired for a negative non- violent gesture made towards a public official.
I agree. I also think that had she been a guy, she would still have her job. I hope she sues the company. They have, for all practical purposes, restricted her freedom of speech, something I thought was protected by the constitution. She wasn't carrying a sign with her company's name on it, was she? Political speech, which is what this was, is protected speech. If it is not, I'm beginning to wonder just what country I'm living in.
