Fox News after Vegas Shooting. He wasn't an atheist or a Muslim. SO it's hard to hate him.

This new mass shooter... he's an atheist so now Fox News can justifiably hate this mass shooter.

Okay. I'm not a democrat, so I don't really care about comparing teams. The Democrats still had some of the current Republican power (they didn't have the Supreme Court, and the filibuster was a stronger tool back then) in 2009. The NRA was calling Obama the most anti-gun president ever before he did anything (not to mention being an atheist Muslim communist terror-sympathizer), and brought a lot of pressure to make sure Obama didn't try to restrict guns. But, whatever; the democrats should have spent political capital on gun reform and did not.

But, I'm not blaming one party. And I'm actually refraining from blaming anybody. I'm talking about the present day. Just saying that now is the time for action. For the last 6 years, political division was the excuse for inaction. No longer.

Oh gee, so you're saying that all of those countries cultures lead to less homicidal maniacs with mental health issues? Tell me what they are doing and how can we replicate it!

They have a completely different culture that have completely different concerns and responsibilities, it's not something that can be easily changed because the current culture is ingrained in just about every American. If you want to be an Aussie, then try to immigrate to that country, it's a lot more realistic than changing an entire countries culture.

You don't actually know what those different concerns or responsibilities are that makes Australia, Canada, UK have less mentally ill, homicidal maniacs than America. Which is why after multiple posts, you still haven't named one specific thing that is different.

If you're going to talk out of your ass, at least put some effort into it.

So you are essentially arguing that I'm wrong and Australia, Canada, and the UK have the same culture as the US? That's adorable.

No. You are just wrong in making a conclusion that culture is the difference when that conclusion is drawn from just platitudes.

If you can't even mention one specific instance of cultural difference that MIGHT lead to more homicidal maniacs, then you have no argument. You are just arguing for the sake of arguing.

I mean if you don't think having 300 million firearms in circulation just MIGHT contribute to our nation's gun violence epidermic than you are doing nothing besides fooling yourself.

I mean, aren't you the one arguing that Australia, Canada, and the UK have the same culture as one another? Neither of those countries, which span three different continents have as many homicidal maniacs than the USA does. According to your logic, their culture explains it.

It almost seems like culture has nothing to do with it, and you are wrong.

That's why the second part of the solution needs to be the scale down of lobbyist influence in congress. We need to make gun manufacturing less profitable.

Treat firearms like cigarettes. No mass advertisement campaign that makes gun owning seem 'cool. Include a heavier tax burden etc.

I personally think culture has SOME part to do with it. It's the uniqueness of American culture that places firearms on a pedestal. I don't know if that's the gun lobby having significant influence in pushing their agenda or just something inherent within our culture where firearms is worshiped as much as free speech. Firearms to many Americans symbolizes freedom yet they don't have the empathetic introspective quality within them to understand that for many, firearms is a symbol of their child laying 6 feet underground.

Talk to many foreigners who aren't accustomed to our culture and one of their biggest surprises is our worshiping of firearms. That is unique to us.

It's a self-fulfilling prophecy. The NRA lobby and gun nuts are rampant in the country, but as Australia shows, a lot can change in 20 or so years, if the government had the balls to take action.

No, I'm arguing that they all have different cultures and that they are each different from American culture and gun violence is part of American culture. I mean, I'm sure you'd pin it on the presence of guns right? Clearly the mere presence of guns causes atrocities right? That's why things are so bad in America with over 100 guns per 100 residents and so peaceful in El Salvador with only 5.8 guns per 100 residents. Wait, what's that you say? El Salvador has the highest murder rate in the world more than 22 times the rate in the US? Can't be right.

The point is that there are cultural reasons that better explain gun violence than any other one factor, the next most important factor is socio-economic considerations. Those two reasons are why you can cut the murder rate for the whole country in half by excluding 13% of the population. Interestingly enough, if you excluded the murders from that one excessively violent segment of the population, you'd end up with a murder rate fairly comparable to Canada. Of course, that's not something we want to talk about I'm sure.

If we remove the population of the second most prolific race in Canada, I'm pretty sure the Canadian gun homicide rate would fall also.

Wow Bobby, that remedial Algebra is paying off!

The irony is that gun owning Republicans are the ones most likely to see the intellectual dishonesty in his tweet since they are the most familiar with gun laws in Texas.

While I'm sorry you shared his predictable input, it does make me suggest a new nickname, given repetition and predictability:

What I said was accurate and you know you can't dispute it....which is why you aren't trying to, thus the ad hominem instead.

Picking a single statistic from a freaking 3rd world country. Now you are just bullshitting....

If you wanna throw statistics around to prove something, then pick similar countries. Western 1st world countries.
