I just assume he'll return to the court no earlier than December

A bruised knee, 5 weeks? He has a lot of mileage on those knees.....

Let's hope this is not a nagging injury, but even if it is, glad we have not extended him yet.

I assume that the Rockets’ organization is not telling us something because that’s how they operate. I don’t think this is more serious than they’re letting on. I’m sure they just have their reasons, let him get as healthy as possible, get in shape. They’ve probably picked a tentative date / game and will allow the team to carry the load so that when he comes back he’ll be less worn out when the playoffs come around. It’s a good way to get around the holding-star-players-out-on-purpose that the league doesn’t like.

    (Big f*****g shrug)

Why are a lot of people surprised by his recovery time? It isnt just a bruised knee. It is a bone bruise in his knee.

I aint no doctor but a simple google search on bone bruises explains the injury and its recovery timeline.

Ill leave this link here again because some of yall need to read up on what bone bruises are.

    Per dat saint luke article

“Most bone bruises slowly heal over 1 to 2 months. A larger bone bruise may take longer to heal. You may not be able to return to sports activities for weeks or months. ”

    So chill yall

A bone bruise is not the same thing as a skin bruise

Thank geebus some people take the time to get educated about this stuff before declaring cp3 as damaged goods.

So many chicken littles in this thread.

This is looking like the "target date" give or take a few days either way.

plus there’s been examples posted in this thread of players missing weeks because of this same injury...people are acting like players are coming back after 1 week while CP3’s recovery time is some huge outlier

CP3 could play right now if he absolutely had to, but the Rockets aren’t about to trot him out there until he’s at 100%. It makes no sense to play him if he’s at 80 or even 90% right now. We’re 7-3 so it’s not like we’re doomed without him. We need him as healthy as possible for the playoffs.

just curious, has it actually been reported as "a bone bruise in his knee"? b/c all i've seen from feigen and elsewhere is "bruised left knee"

Rockets are doing good so far. We saving CP3 for the playoffs... no doubt he's out there coaching James and the crew how to handle things mentally.

Yeah I think you are right. All those reports seemed to be based on marc stein’s report of a bone bruise.

Cant find anything with feigen saying bone bruise.

marc stein could still be right and accurate, and probably is considering how long paul is sitting out. but i have to wonder if one explanation for our side's vagueness in reporting any details and downplaying the severity may just be a goodwill gesture to paul's people, taking into account that he'll be a free agent after this season.

I think his knee is probably good to go now, theyre probably getting his conditioning up so that he doesn't have a follow up injury from fatigue or ramping up his exertion too quickly.

Reasoning behind this is that boxing training is a good amount of torque. Doubt he would be doing that if he was still incapacitated

But even with the Rockets’ fast start without Paul, and with Harden averaging 26.8 points, 9.4 rebounds and 4.6 assists entering Sunday, none of it advances their mission of making it work with these two at the top. From D’Antoni on down, they’ve done the next best thing to doing it: They’ve talked about it. D’Antoni said Paul has been vocal all along the way, sharing insights gained from 12 seasons of NBA action while trying to play the role of de facto assistant coach. This, like it or not, is their prolonged planning stage.
