My friend who purchased my Game 5 tickets for me is coming over. He's bringing someone I don't know. I just hope it's someone who won't be an idiot or bother me. Kids will go trick-or-treating (assuming this rain stops in The Woodlands). I'm setting up the projector in the garage so we can chain smoke and drink away. Only issue with that is the multiple-minute delay from watching via my Fire Stick. Get texts before things happen and it ruins the surprise (which might be better for my blood pressure).

Just under 3 hours and counting.

I saw a number of pro Astro stories, especially touting the "core 4" or Altuve, Correa, Springer and Bregman across various major Internet sites as well as TV. Both teams have been talking about the slick balls. The other questions are certainly worthy. The Dodgers were something like 49-1 when getting 4 runs when he pitches, so it is story worthy. Roberts has been going to his bullpen often so it is a story.

Like I said....I want to be the only one making stupid comments and whining. If I wanted to commiserate, this would be the first place I'd turn. :)

Hopefully the kiddies are honest and only take one-two pieces.

I'll be alone with my blunt tonight probably.

If the Astros win, my cousins out here in LA (both born and raised in Houston like me) have already decided that we're rolling through the town with the windows down and will blast chop and screw (DJ Screw classics mayne). I have an Astros license plate frame and the logo magnet on the back. Pray for us if this happens lol!

I'm a little concerned that Dodger fans will start throwing stuff on the field if Gurriel comes through in a major moment. This game has so many different angles to it. I just hope Verlander shuts them down.

Give the MVP to Verlander if he pitches a shutout.

    Less than 3 hours away!

I do not need to be prepared if we win Game 6 or Game 7.

I need to be prepared if they lose Games 6 and 7.

    Can I handle this?

    Is there precedent?

Yes, the 2014 and 2015 Royals. I'd rather not think about that, but it technically is out there.

Also, the 2011 and 2012 Rangers, although certainly not achieve the same fate as the 2012 team.

I only say all this because it's the hardest thing to be able to do - prepare oneself for what happens if we don't win the championship. This is not pessimistic thinking, because I actually do think they have a great chance. But nothing is guaranteed, and knowing how quirky baseball can be, I have to be ready for both outcomes.

Now, all that being said, I am actually very confident that this team can take one of those 2 games- preferably tonight. We have skill and heart. We can do this.

I will see you all after Game 6 if we win or after Game 7 regardless. All the best, Astros!

Checking in to say I was here just a few hours before the Stros won it all. Don't know how I'm gonna handle it tonight.

You're stronger than me then because I plan on spending my night alone on here basking in the glory of stupid comments and whining.

Random thought: what if you had followed the SI lead and put a bet on the Stros to win the '17 WS back in '15(?)....

I imagine there was some place somewhere that would have taken that bet, and the odds would have been a lot higher than 10 to 1. It would have probably paid off big like when McEllroy's father put that bet on him at age 15, and cashed in big 10 years later.

Honestly, the feeling hasn't fully kicked in yet, how big this game is. People are talking about possible "MVP's" of the World Series. To me...win or lose...the MVP of this post season has been the fans. Corny, I know, but analysts would barely touch on the impact teams fans' had on a certain series, but ours? It was the center of the story. To say our fans have been amazing would be the understatement of the year.

Of course I'm proud of the players. I'm going to love looking back 10 years from now and saying that I got to watch these guys play.

That being said, I'll also remember how the fans of this team tore the roof off. To see tweets from analysts saying "The center field bleachers are shaking." To here them say "I've never seen anything like this before." Ok, love fest is done!

Lets get this win tonight! Time to bring a World Series Championship to Houston!
