We finally have a franchise qb and you trade away our best Olineman. I guess they don’t care about protecting Watson. I hate when teams trade talented players for off the field issues. This trade doesn’t make the team better.
That's good. It seems given the circumstances it was a decent deal. I wish Brown would have helped us to begin the season but with this new distraction and him being so outspoken I think it is the right move. I wouldn't call Brown a cancer but he does seem a bit of a pot stirrer. Have us a lot of good quality years so I have no reason to bash the guy. He is looking out for his best interests and glad we got something for him so something of a win win. Man, the Seahawks love them some outspoken dudes don't they? He will fit right in over there.
The Duane Brown Trade: An Analysis Duane Brown is gone. The Texans are a worse football team because of it. by Matt Weston@Mbw987
The Texans aren't a worse football team because of it, they got rid of a locker room cancer that was doing everything he could to sabotage the team and managed to get back a 2nd and a 5th for him.....the Pats only got a 2nd for Jimmy G! If Duane Brown was 8 years younger and still had that kind of upside left, then we could have a different conversation, but he's not that guy. He's the guy that just got worked by a 37 year old Dwight Freeney who most people assumed was retired already. This was a win-win, the team was instantly better once Duane Brown was gone plus they got a LOT more than he was worth on the way out.
It doesn't matter how much you deny it, there's nothing you can do to make it less obviously true. Your argument that other players respected him doesn't mean that he's not a cancer, it just means that he's a well respected cancer. If you payed any attention whatsoever this season you'd see that he did all in his power to sabotage the team....yet you still can't see why he'd be called a cancer LOL Just say that you like him or that you agree with his politics, that way you won't look as ridiculous as you do when you try to defend the indefensible.
I don't care about him or his politics. He's gone. PEACE. It doesn't matter. The player who held out hurt the team, the player who played on Sunday helped the team. A cancer is someone who makes your team worse by causing strife, someone the players don't want to be around. You can't be a cancer if your teammates love you and want you to be their spokesman. He played hard on Sunday and played better than any tackle we have despite being rusty. He had some bad moments sure, but was still about average for the entire game which is a HUGE upgrade. He wasn't a cancer. You can do your usual response of "lol you are so stupid hahahaha I'm not proving my point I'm just ridiculing you as if that means anything to anyone" retorts and it still won't make him a cancer.
The player who played on Sunday got worked by a 37 year old Dwight Freeney....so he wasn't really helping the team that much now was he? A cancer is someone who makes your team worse by causing strife, yes, and that's EXACTLY what Duane Brown was trying to do, look at all the nonsense he stirred up in just one week with the team! Your teammates can love you and you can still be a cancer that is attempting to sabotage the team. I don't know why this is a difficult concept for you to grasp. You can't refute any of what I've just said.....but you'll likely just say "nuh uh" and declare victory.
Dwight Freeney played less than 20 snaps and had like 2 pressures. He worked Duane on 1 or 2 plays. Duane Brown played significantly more snaps than that and scored a PFF grade nearly 30 points higher than Chris Clark or Kendall Lamm have put forth this season.
So on less than 20 snaps, he got worked so badly by a washed up 37 year old that it was easily noticeable....and managed to whiff on a block so badly on one of the last plays in the game that he caused a TFL instead of a positive gain while trying to get a first down and run out the clock.....yeah we really miss that guy. I mean, even if you just look at it from a football standpoint, trading a washed up LT for a 2nd, a 5th, and a depth CB is a steal for the Texans. I get that some people are blinded by non-football factors, but again, you can't dispute what I've just said. Also, that score was in the 60's right? So below average despite going against weak competition.
I took the trip to see what was being said and I like that despite their best efforts to paint this as a bad thing, the majority in the poll said the trade was a good thing. BRB might have to ban some people in order to control the narrative better. They are slipping.
Freeney only played about 20 plays had some nice penetration and a half of a sack. PER PETE CARROLL! You act like he dominated.
This is like a football guy who ignores character. This guy would have drafted Jamarcus Russell and not drafted Watson.
Don't pay attention to BOBBYTHEHATE!! If a person doesn't LOOK like him, he doesn't like them nor would does he agree wih them. SMH
He did the Texans a solid by suiting up last Sunday and playing his butt off. His trade value probably jumped up after the game. He also did them a solid by staying away and keeping quiet instead of being detrimental to the team during his holdout. He could have shown up earlier and caused a stink publicly or complained to the media. Gotta give him credit for at least that. Of course the team is better with Duane Brown than without. Im going to miss him. But Duane Brown did not want to be with the team and was willing to lose money to stand his ground.
Chris Clark made Duane Brown expendable. Davenport just needs a few years to develop. And maaaan, that 2019 draft is gonna be sweet!
Fact is that he wanted out of a Texans uniform. I dont care how talented he is... When it's a player that wants out, you'll never get the best from him. The texans didn't have much of a choice in the matter... Do we really believe that if Brown wanted to be a Texan, he would still get traded? He's been lobbying to get out of Houston for 2+ months now. F him.
