It's not over, though. I honestly thought Kershaw would be Kershaw. I hope Verlander can close it out. Just an unreal ending.
If you zoom out and look at the cities instead of the individual teams, Cleveland got a championship in 2016 with the Cavs. Chicago won Stanley Cups in 2010, 2013, and 2015. And LA won NBA titles in 2009 and 2010, Stanley Cups in 2012 and 2014, and even a World Series in 2002 (Angels). Yeah, the Dodgers haven't won a WS since 1988, but they have 6 championships (5 in LA). Meanwhile Houston has never won a World Series, has the 2nd longest drought behind the Indians, and the city itself is in a longer major championship drought. It's our turn.
Game 5 was awesome but I will be happy to have a boring game 6 with Verlander dominating the Dodgers and Stros batters blowing them out of Chavez Ravine at the plate.
I was going to post the EXACT same thing. The victimhood among Houston sports fans is overwhelming. And old & tired. And a little embarrassing.
Victimhood? Look at these lists: The top game of this list (World Series) has Houston as the loser. http://www.thebaseballgauge.com/pos...WPA=game&results=50&page=1&sort=tWPA_a#metric This one (League Championship) has Houston losing 4 out of 5. http://www.thebaseballgauge.com/pos...WPA=game&results=50&page=1&sort=tWPA_a#metric How long have you been a Houston sports fan? Do you still remember the top ranked Cougars' loss to Jim Valvano's NC State? How about the Buffalo Bills' historic comeback against the Oilers?
Just looking at that list, we are the only WS since 1924 with 2 games in the top 20. And I think they were both top 5, but I'm biased obviously.
After my fiance surprised me with tickets to last nights game. We actually almost sold them. Getting married end of this year and could always use a little extra money. But having never been to a playoff game of any sport I told her it would be worth it to go and a good memory. After they went up 3-0 i was a bit sad. Expecting Kershaw with a 3-0 lead to be Kershaw. We were in the nosebleeds in right foul territory. There was a guy in our section who had been there all three nights, his voice was hoarse and he got us going each and every inning. It was magical. A night I will never forget. I can't wait to be on this forum 10, 15, 20 years from now when we are in the WS again and talk about Altuve, Correa, Springer, Gurriel, Bregman... and all that made this series insane. First ever WS game, and boy did I luck out with a great one.
Great game....Needless to say, I'm ecstatic we won. It was far from a cleanly managed game though. While it would have scratched him from starting game 7, I would have brought LMJ in from the 7th on. Should have been closed out earlier...So while it was exciting, and I'm on cloud nine that we won.... It didn't need to be like that. BUT....now, that the chips fell where they did, we do have Lance as our ACE in the hole for game 7.
What an insanely wild and incredible Series! I'm not sure if the Astros are trying to put us all on Cloud Nine, or nine feet under.
So...the Astros won and didn't burn McCullers who can pitch game 7, if necessary, on normal rest. Nor did they really burn any other pitchers. I'm glad Hinch didn't burn McCullers or any other starter.
McCullers threw 87 pitches (the most he's thrown in a month) and you seriously wanted to bring him back for multiple innings with one day of rest?
We won...a tremendous heavyweight title fight. And are set up perfectly for 6 and 7. I'm happy, believe me. Just my 2 cents.
The only thing that can tarnish this game is that is was called by Joe Buck . Some kind soul will have to dub over the Astros radio guys .
