I'm referring to principles. If I was an employer and shouted 'heil Hitler's and supported totalitrain facist notions, I don't think you would hit the excuse that "each company has their own polices".

It's the principle. If you as an employer are forcing your employees to do things such as recite the pledge of allegiance or stand for the anthem, you are in essence believe in authoritarian nationalism. It's that simple. It ain't illegal, but it still shows that they are authoritarian nationalists...

Or the DOD just payed them(our tax money) enough money to force their employees to take part.

The irony of this comment in this thread. If it weren't for "fools like you" making unjustified comments about the owner this thread wouldn't even exist.

I liked what Arian Foster said in reference to CTE. He was asked if he would still choose football knowing the risks.

He said "Yes, because I was able to get my family out. Worth it to me." He added, he was taking preparations just in case the day comes when he doesn't recognize his family anymore.

Miss Arian more than ever, for his wit and wisdom.

Definitely witty but his "wisdom" is overstated. He took some eastern philosophy classes in college and the NFL and the media anointed him as some kinda of guru LOL. Arian is more weird than wise but most folks can't tell the difference. True wisdom from an athlete is someone like Yao.

It's there in the ESPN story, but not in the followup media clickbait headlines and not in the message Duane Brown is spewing everywhere for his own personal gain.

People don't care about the truth. They care about headlines and media clicks and righteous indignation, even if it's misplaced.

Reported responsibly, this is a third page of the sports section lower corner story.

You want to blame anyone for this mess? Blame Trump. He used the NFL to distract from his failed, corrupt administration. There were MAYBE 5 players still protesting before his comments. There were less every week. He threw gasoline on the embers to get back at the NFL (for rejecting him and to distract). Trump supporters are the DUMBEST SOBs on the planet.

Imo, I feel players who are protesting overall want their feelings, issues, etc. outside of football to be heard, acknowledged and addressed for themselves as well as people in the communities they are representing. They are using their platform to bring awareness to these issues. A lot of people who are opposed to this are pretty much expressing "just be some good boys, stand for the anthem and entertain us, your feelings, issues, etc. outside of football don't matter". A lot of the fans who are so outraged and are trying to use patriotism and veterans as an excuse to why the players shouldn't protest haven't given one cent to any of the many veterans in need.

The players have been demeaned and called names repeatedly by our president, team owners and a bunch of fans. These players aren't robots just for the purpose of your entertainment. They are men first and will be long after the NFL. I don't know with the poor leader we have in the White House if there is a win-win solution because his comments have poured gasoline all over this issue and made it a divisive firestorm.

Foster is a pseudo intellectual. He thinks he’s smarter than everyone. A couple of months ago, he said in an interview with bill nye that he was going back to school to study physics.

Nye asked him a couple of questions regarding his major, it was cringe worthy watching Foster talking out of his ass, having no idea what bill nye was talking about.

Foster is way in over his head. He has no idea what he’s getting into. He’ll probably just drop out after a semester, that’s if he actually does go back to school.

    Jay Glazer:

    Fallout in Houston?

It's getting worse. Players considered not playing this weekend but understood that'd be a different set of legal ramifications.

Let me give you a timeline:

When the quotes first came out, Bill O'Brien read them in a team meeting. When that happened, players started leaving the building saying "We're not gonna go play for this guy." It started becoming almost unanimous where guys were gonna leave. They met with Duane Brown, OT, their team leader who just came back from a holdout. He said "I understand your frustration. If you want to get back at the owner, do it together. Leaving here, you'll just get fined & punished more. Come together & protest against him together. Over these last 48-72 hours, McNair met with the players & it has actually gotten worse. It's made it so bad where the players hope the attention gets even louder and one guy said "I hope he gets it so much there's pressure for him to sell the team." I don't think that's gonna happen but that's how angry they are.

So what are they planning today?

They are gonna protest. They're gonna protest Mr. McNair. They went over different things. One player said let's rip the decals off the helmets but there would be monetary implications on that. Several will knee during the anthem. They want to make clear we are not protesting the anthem. We're doing this because we know how much this will upset Bob McNair who wants us to stand for them anthem. It is ugly.

Strahan: This completely undermines the statement the league & owners that they stand behind the players. Makes it seem the statement was made at the time to get through the pressure they were under but in the back of their mind, they were never gonna follow through on helping the players with these social issues. I would hope McNair doesn't rep the other owners in saying this but from the outside looking in, you could imagine, you think if he said it, others are in the same frame of mind as well.

Why would you care about this thread existing or not existing?

McNair made a stupid racist comment about a protest that involves
One issue here is that you aren't that great of an arbiter of who is "wise".
