LOL, it doesn't matter to me anymore. I quit watching basketball and football. I had been a die hard fan since before many people on here were even born. I remember watching the Rockets semi-finals back in the 80's beating the Lakers in in the wee hours of the morning when stationed in Puerto Rico in the Navy. Even though the Celtics beat us in the finals, I was rooting for us. Then I took leave to watch the finals in the 90's, so I wouldn't miss the games. How sweet that was! I was a die hard Oilers fan and Texans fan too, through all the good, bad, and the ugly. The political protests during the anthem just ruined my whole enthusiasm and love for watching the game. I will never support anyone who protests during the anthem, regardless of the cause. That's just my American pride, and military background I guess. Many will argue the cause justifies when and where they do it, just as the flag burning hippies of the 60's did. To each his own. I still watch baseball though, and am rooting for my Astros all the way!!!! Let's beat those Dodgers and wrap this up at home!!! Loving it!!
I commend you for your conviction. I think a lot more people have and will join you in boycotting football. I don't see how the sport recovers.
Thanks. You are the first person to respect my decision on here and not slam me personally. Like I said, I don't slam others for watching it, and don't expect anyone to understand how it made me feel. Personally, it seems like a large majority of people could care less, and will continue to support the teams no matter what they do. A lot of people don't think it's disrespectful, but I am just not one of them.

You have to ask yourself, do you really want this person blocking for Watson? Other wanting to maximize his future earnings, does he have any incentive or care about doing his job or winning football games? I personally suspect he wants to lose Every game the rest of the year as long as it doesn't cost him money. I hear some posters say the Texans can't give in because it sets a poor example. At this point you just have to ask yourself if you want this person around your players or on the field. I don't know how deep the bad blood is, but it appears that Brown isn't going to shut up and play hard to earn a new contract. He is doing everything possible to not be a Texan. Players like that don't need to be associated with the team. We don't even know if he is in shape. Trade him and move on. The Texans gain nothing by just benching him. If he doesn't play, his trade value isn't going up and the Texans would be foolish to play him. Not sure why he thinks acting like this is going to make teams line up to pay him.

Duane Brown is a cancer imo, should look to flip him for a pick before he causes more damage to the team. I say that as a fan of the Texans. As a fan I only care about the team I support when I'm supporting the team. I don't care about other very important things that should be dealt with in their time and place. I don't care about the owner because he doesn't draft players or play a down. Team first while being a fan of the team. Leave real life for real life. The fact that I have to clarify myself is annoying btw... but if I don't I'll get attacked and called all kinds of names by tolerant, non-violent, non-discriminatory, folks.
I don't think you know me. I rooted and cheered for Houston teams my whole life, even when they were horrible. This has nothing to do with winning. It is all about what I believe in. I just won't watch the NFL or NBA when guys playing in it choose to protest during the anthem. I just find it very anti-American, especially when doing it in a foreign country. What I do agree is that we have lots of issues in this country with gay rights, women's rights, gender equal pay, police brutality, crime, and more. I could list 100's of issues on here I wish were better, starting from the people making the decisions to run our government. Things need to change, but this isn't the way to do it. What is sad is that there are millions of people in this world who would cut off their right arm just to live in our great country, even though it still needs change for the better. I am proud to be an American, and proud to have served my country for 20 years. You know, for me it has never been about rooting for a winning team, but about rooting who I enjoyed rooting for. That was always my home town team. I still root for the Astros, but the NBA and NFL just spoiled my spirit.
I just hope Duane doesn't cause issues in the locker room. Sure he's the best option talent wise, but I wish we had been able to trade him and cut our losses.
Haven’t heard anything that says he wasn’t welcomed back by teammates. I’ve only heard positive. Teammates seem to love him and players normally stick together. I believe he’s a great teammate, just has outside views on things that fans don’t like.
