This may very well be a distraction for gurriel. I hope he still hits. We need him.

I really wished Hinch started the 6th with Peacock.
You could tell McCullers was getting tired when he pitched in the 5th.

Overall, awesome game and great pitching by McCullers and Peacock.

Is the dodger bullpen pretty spent?

Awesome work from Peacock. We've discussed the tandem potential ad nauseam and it actually has been in full effect twice now.

Hinch didn't have many tough calls but he made the right ones.

    2 more wins.

After watching the Astros this postseason, my observation is that their DEFENSE is ELITE. I am very impressed with how well they field.

Not Jansen at all. Or Fields ;). None of Watson, Cingrani, Stripling or Morrow thew many pitches tonight (b/t 8-18 each). Roberts wouldn't let them. I'd think those guys are absolutely available.

If only Springer’s “grand slam” was indeed one, the score would have reflected true Astros ball.

It’s encouraging how well the Astros were able to get on base (with Altuve and Correa struggling a bit). But it is at the same discouraging how many points they left on the table.

Happy they are up 2-1. They can play better and capitalize better and I believe they will.

Man you just rattled off a decent cavalry of their bullpen. That’s just a testament to how formidable and numerous their bullpen is. How many pitchers do they have available?

Defense is playing very well. Bregman has been great. Outfielders, while not the greatest range with Marwin in there, have thrown out a ton. It seems pressure Astros put on opponent has gotten to their opponent's defenses.

Has this elite defense been a norm for the Astros? Or has it become elite on the biggest stage?

Everyone but Maeda, Darvish and Hill. Kershaw would be extremely, extremely doubtful.

So do the Dodgers just have more pitchers in numbers than the Astros? Or do both teams have the same number of pitchers to work with?

While available, not sure how good those guys are going to be having to cover 8 innings.

McCann's defense behind the plate is not good in some respects (throwing, blocking) but very good at others (receiving, dealing with the pitchers). Marwin is not good in LF, but the IF is excellent. Springer and Reddick are both very good.

The defensive metrics don't like them at all, and I'm not sure why. Haven't cared to research it.

But my eye test from watching them in the post season tells me differently from the metrics you’re referring to. They look great on defense

Over the course of the season the Astros were a relatively mediocre defensive team.
