Big Bob currently under fire: "Cant let the inmates run the prison"

Remember a couple offseasons ago when the league made a joke chart of which team had the most arrests, Texans were last. But I bet the NFL doesnt touch that stat anymore..

 

Only a low IQ person would actually think the NFL is a prison, owners wardens, and players inmates. I'm gonna need to see wonderlic scores for each outrage tweet.

Don't get me wrong, I think he is ridiculously stupid and a really poor choice of words, and very well may have just cost us our season.. But there is a bit of overreaction at the same time don't you think? I guess I'm just mad because of how stupid he is for saying it, not mad at him for actually thinking that way...

i'm not saying bob mcnair is or isn't a racist but having a black employee doesn't mean anything either way.

tons of actual racist white people have had black servants.

 

It has nothing to do if Bob McNair is racist. It has EVERYTHING to do what he thinks are his players. He doesn't seem them as human beings, but a product.

 

Because black people are regularly stereotyped and profiled as criminals. That's kind of the whole point of the protests?

 

Doesn't sound like he's taking offense it to it racially, he's just offended by how McNair actually views his employees. This is completely understandable. I'm not black but if my CEO referred me and my coworkers as inmates who can't get out of line, I'd be pretty pissed too.

I agree, people may be taking it over the top but again being OFFENDED by the statement is different from people calling him A RACIST.

We don't know the McNair's or Bob personally but it says a lot when the entire team and your star wideout don't want to be there because of this misplaced/misworded comment.

He is such an idiot for saying that. That was fu**in dumb!

 

Except this was in response to kneeling for the anthem. If a peaceful protest garners the right to be called a prison inmate I sure would hate to know your other values. Maybe he’d have a point if the players were smoking meth in the locker room or bullying NRG employees, you know actually disturbing the peace. And for the record, no Texans player has even kneeled for the anthem yet, so why would he be saying this? Could it be he’s repeating what another owner told him and possibly the rest of the owners? Could this possibly be a sign of collusion? “We can’t let these inmates run the prison, so we need to make an example out of Kaep to send a message at everyone else kneeling.”

 

yeah because bob mcnair doesn't have anybody secretly recording the conversations he has in private. Who knows what the man says when he's not in public.

 

That's where the disconnect is going to come in conversations. I think everyone will agree that he should have known better. We all can agree that we would hate to be thought of like this by our own employers.
But when people start making it about race, it's just going to clutter up what could have been a productive conversation, because he obviously didn't mean it to be about race.

They are a product. I don't think that's a bad thing. But even JJ Watt is a product. The Texans are selling the players/team. How else should you view it?

They can be people later. But if you're on the field, you're a product. You're being sold. And you get plenty of benefits from it.

Also - for those wondering why players don't just start their own teams...I think it'll have to do with the "too many chiefs, not enough indians" idea (sorry of that is racist). Player A will wonder why he doesn't get as much as player B, since they're all owners. Many times, one person has to be in ultimate control.

That was his whole point. Could have had better words. Aslyum. Let the kids run the class. Etc. But, you could spin almost anything these days.

Reminds me of the outrage from the live fantasy football auction. Where they also "sold" Tom Brady...but didn't get the coverage.
