We just witnessed it. When asked about Springer before the game, A.J. Hinch said: "I think you can make too much out of it. George Springer has way more good days than bad days, and way more good stretches than bad stretches. So I'm going to continue to encourage him. He's going to lead off. He's going to be a big part of an offensive approach tonight against a good pitcher [in Hill]. If he carries the burden of what he's not doing with him, then that's not going to help him. The only thing that helps is getting out and competing." How poetic. That moment in the bullpen after the homer where Springer let out a primal roar then immediately turned around and failed miserably on a high five with Maybin; Priceless and classic Springer. Let's go Astros! BOOM!!!
I love that guy and feel so bad when he gets interviewed. Bad ass game and instant classic, feels good with the split on the road and even better with our first World Series win in franchise history baby!
If it was comfortable it wouldn't have been the best game ever. So many epic moments. L.A. is a great team, no one expects us to blow them out. We took a road game even with Verlander's highest ER game. HUGE!
HRs from Altuve, Correa, Springer, and Marwin. Bregman did his thing too. All the core guys. First time in baseball history (regular or postseason) with 5 HR in extra innings. Kenley Jansen's first blown save in his postseason history. Dodgers were 98-0 this season when leading after 8 innings. Astros first team in mlb history with 3 hr in extra innings of a playoff game. First team to hit back to back homers in extra innings of a world series game. 8 hr in a game is most in WS history. And more crazy stats/records are sure to emerge.
This was the best baseball game ever. Have you ever seen a better one? Amazing. Incredible. The drama was off the charts.
The Astros and I are the same age. These Astros though. This was a long time coming for both of us and definitely the best game in franchise history.
Seriously. Here were my (and most of our) emotions during the course of the game: Mildly pleased, mildly displeased, moderately upset. Very excited, ecstatic, nervous, semi-devastated, intensely exstatic/hopeful, nervous again, and finally, relieved and jubilant.
I've been watching baseball since the early 70's including some classic's like Fisk's Game 6 foul pole winner in '75, Gibson's HR in game 1 in '88, Carter's walk off in '93, Reggie's 3 HR's in '78, Kirby Puckett in Game 6 in '91, Kent's walk off in 05, Freese walk off in game 6 of '11..... This is the wildest, craziest, best game I've ever seen. Period.
That was the best baseball game ever. I couldn't take another inning of that though and am glad Devo struck out Puig there. I need to go to sleep soon but I can't! He's come a long way with them now though and is super confident. He's a good example to anyone who stutters.
No doubt and I'm proud of him for it. I just feel bad when he does stutter, kinda wanna protect him from it for some reason. My wife calls me soft for that but he's just such a likable dude and don't want anyone making fun of him
Lol. 10th inning double and Yuli's helmet conveniently 'falls' off as he rounds 1st base. Had to show off la pina.
