I was as crushed/pissed after game 4 of the ALCS as I have been at any sporting event for a very, very long time (albeit no heavy drinking or throwing things) Reminded myself exactly what you just posted and have been pretty subdued since other than fleeting outbursts. I think getting down about it is okay as long as you don't let it carry into other aspects of your life -- makes winning all the better.

Those are not contradictions; in fact, they amplify my point. The Indians were lining up their rotation for the ALCS BEFORE the ALDS even started. How else do you explain Trevor Bauer getting two starts in the ALDS and Carlos Carrasco only one?

Compare that to the way Hinch managed the ALDS: he exhausted his best pitcher in a non-must-win because he understood the urgency to avoid a winner-take-all game in which anything could happen.

    ERA this season vs NYY....
    Bauer 1.38
    Kluber 1.59
    Carrasco 7.94

The worst thing for CLE is Edwin getting injured.

Using Verlander Game 4 maximized his and Keuchel's usage vs BOS. If we lost, Keuchel would've had Game 5. If we won, JV is setup to pitch sooner the next round.

Exaggeration is a common theme when you're debating.
    _______
Hindsight is 20/20, but answer this...

Would you rather have Keuchel and JV fresh right now?
First you said "bad pitch", now it's "effective".

Let's just AGREE in hoping JV pitches better tonight.

Which means LMJ is the Game 7 starter should it go that far. Awesome! I'm thinking Collin McHugh is going to piggyback Morton's start. They probably use the regular bullpen guys in LMJ's start if needed, which I would include Peacock in that group.

Same lineup as last night. I can see why Hinch is not moving Springer down. He is trying to show George the utmost confidence. Hopefully it pays off and he rewards AJ for sticking with him at the top.

Here's the original comment; let me know if you think I'm still exaggerating...
Yep. I was wrong; it was an objectively good pitch. Keuchel was unlucky. He pitched extremely well.

Well, apparently, there's more. I called another friend and left a message complaining about my sports teams and saying how lucky he was.

He texted me, "Dan, your message was a true WTF moment- I'm from Atlanta, remember?"

I thought I was calling my friend in San Francisco, but I dialed the wrong number. I mean, that's just straight-up a major goof.

    So, there's that.

And the friend in Boston (actually, he's in Brockton, about 20 min. south of Boston) called me earlier. He said I said, and I quote, "****ing George Altuve needs to get his head out of his ass!!!" I think he's making it up- no friggin way did I say that. He also said I said Frank Thomas could go suck my dick- and he said who and I said Frank Thomas, the MF Bruins goalie, and he said that's Tim Thomas, and I said, well, both of them can go **** off. I think he's making some of this up.

    I think.

The original said, "chances are slim."

    You said, "can't possibly."
Keuchel's start could be considered "good" had he not surrendered the walk first.

His ERA went from 2.70 to 4.05.

LOL I am sure him being a good friend probably got a good kick out of it.

I’ve been drunk called a few times by buddies, and it’s one reason why you have to love them. I have done my fair share.

First time I ever went on a vacation(Cabo)with my girlfriend and her friends(husbands) we all stayed in one giant condo with 4 rooms for three nights. The drink of choice that first night was “double shooting” whiskey. After about 10 rounds after not eating all day, I had a solid black out. Apparently walked in to the condo from the night out of town at 2 in the morning in my underwear and dropped them just to urinate on the couch in the living room. One of the couples happened to see the event.

3 years later. Still best friends with all of the couples. Moral of the story, whiskey is an *******.

I still think it was a terrible idea to throw that pitch in that situation, and you're not going to change my mind on that. Turner was sitting on it. Saw him interviewed a little while ago, he switched to a shorter, lighter bat for that AB because Keuchel had been getting the cutter in on him so well.

Listening to the postgame interviews after the game last night, the Dodger players seem polite and complimentary of the Astros. Hard to really hate them like the Yankees. Judge seemed like a nice guy, but many of the other Yankees, I didn't care for, especially Todd Frazier.
