Mitch McConnell, John Cornyn, Lisa Murkowski, Susan Collins and Ben Sasse. These are the Republican senators he names as ones who need to go, enemies of Trump.
As a Texas resident I have to agree with Hannity for once. Cornyn needs to go. Not sure why he’s included in this list. The guy is a Trump fans wet dream. His whole existence seems to be controlling women’s reproductive organs.
Commissar Hannity has done great service in purging these enemies of the people! What a ****ing idiot.
It's amazing - you have some respected, or once respected, Republicans who are completely rejecting Trump. I wonder what our alt-rights friends here think. It's obviously not just the left or the media who is critical of Trump. You rarely see a party divided like this. The Republican Party is radicalizing. This is a dangerous time.
Make no mistake. This is a win for them. They look at McCain and Flake as wolves in sheeps clothing. They watch FoxNews and scour the internet for whatever confirms their bias... why would they want to keep lawmakers around who will speak truth to their bias?
One has to wonder the impact this will have on their ability to win elections. Will the middle of the country wake up from the Trump-mare and disown the alt-right? We can only hope otherwise we may see the right of white nationalism to serious power in this country.
The middle of the country and the south that worships Trump is the alt right.... at least right now. There is little separation between a Trump fan and a white nationalist if they watch FoxNews and consume Trump fan / White Nationalist propaganda. However .... my optimistic side says they can easily come back from this. It’s 2017. Even in middle America you are somehow going to be exposed to people who aren’t exactly like you. You’ll know someone of color, or gay, etc. Trumpism can only exist in the comfort of your own home or around friends you know think the same way as you. As Van Jones said the night of the election this is “White Lashing”. My 3 year old lashes out when she has to brush her teeth, but when she feels that cavity come on, she’ll realize brushing her teeth is actually a smart move. The world moved too much too fast and white America lashed out but in the end of the day, these folks know what is right and what is wrong. It’s just they don’t see it now cause they are still in White Lashing mode and they still haven’t learned what they are engaged in with Nationalism and historically what it has meant over time. Nationalism is not what they want even though it sounds sexy and cool now. I’ll admit “deconstructing the administrative state” sounds cool.... Kind of like when I was in college and I thought cause I’m an indie college kid I had to listen to Godspeed You Black Emperor. It’s not. GYBE are just songs that don’t really need to 30 minutes long and Nationalism is what caused WW2 and what will cause Trump to start a stupid war with a meaningless country like North Korea.
I don't know about that. I think Trump had many groups of supporters. One is the white nationalists. The other who agree that white people are under siege or hold somewhat racist views but don't consider themselves racist. Together those make up nearly 40% of the electorate. Then there are moderate Republicans who are just very pro-business and anti-tax which make up maybe the other 5-10%. Then there middle which is another 10%. Congress won't flip in 2018. The senate doesn't favor Dems taking 51 seats and the House through extreme gerrymandering is impossible to flip. The hope in the Senate is that right wingers take out moderate Republicans and then lose in the general to Dems but that's still a long shot. It really depends on whether those moderate Republicans decide to abandon Trump en masse. I am not sure people will stand on principle over pocketbook though.
nothing is always a good thing, but in principle, I'm all for political challengers. If the primary system encourages extreme behavior and candidates that represent the views of less and less of the electorate, then it's not a good thing. The tea party candidates represented some very motivated voters, and a lot of external funding, but they did not, on the whole, represent the majority will of their districts. Most Americans, for example, did not want to shut down the government and did not want to put an end to all compromising and collective work.
Simplified world view: Competition is always good. Reality: Fair competition is usually good, but not always. We don't have fair competition. Large segment aren't part of the competition. Folks like Sean Hannity with a megaphone over the years dumbing down masses. Those seeds are now blooming. Mind masses washed over years to now see truth as untruth and untruth as truth. Complete flip of reality. Competition among the most energized dumbed down masses aren't good. It's how you end up with a crazy nut as POTUS. Add in gerrymandering, dark money, large money, voter suppression kicking in high gear, corruption and conflict of interest becoming norm, ... Our political system was never perfect or fair, but it's worse now then just a decade ago. That's the real world.
Hannity and Trump are symptoms of a dumbed down populace, not the cause. it's nice that that graphic acknowledges that compactness is no guarantee of "fairness" the problem with this graphic is that even accepting that definition of fairness, we can't draw districts knowing what the green/purple ratio will be in advance
