You can be mad at him if you think his absence for the first 6 games hurt the team. If you don't think his absence hurt the team than you shouldn't be too excited that he's back either.

I don't see why Duane Brown can have the same careers as Peters or Whitworth. Older players but still performing well at their age.

I don't think that is necessarily wrong. Alex Smith is 33 and is having the best year of his career. Josh McCown has come out of nowhere to be a better player than he's ever been. I will refrain from talking about Brady etc because those are very unique comparisons.

KHOU: Duane Brown: "I'm here, this is where I want to be. I love the city of Houston"

    It was money.

I'd take duane with no arms over the paper holders we have right now. keep him until you get a first round pick, good left tackle are almost always 1st round talents. So til spring of 2019, even then that rookie 1st rd tackle will need a year of tutelage. so spring of 2020. I think he can play solid football til 35.*

*if injury free. But that's what usually happens with the older guys.

Can we franchise Duane if his contract comes off the books after next season?

You don't know if that's gonna happen. Brown could play like he normally does and he'll get paid here or elsewhere.

Brown holding out doesn't prove that he believes he doesn't have much left in the tank. It proves the obvious.. that it's super risky to play when there isn't guaranteed money left beyond the current season. PFF rated him as an above average tackle just last season. Have you been following the league? Guys are dropping like flies left n right

To me.. what's most likely is that he looks damn good pretty quick. That's what I've grown to expect from Brown

Of course I don't know that it's going to happen, it's just the most likely scenario. The ONLY reason Duane Brown showed up today is because the Texans forced his hand by going out and getting a roster exemption for him, if he didn't show up today, he wouldn't have gotten credit for this season at all and still had 2 years left on his contract at the end of the season.

Given that he's that much of a malcontent, I wouldn't imagine they'd want to dick with him any more after this season and can use the cap savings to fill some holes on the roster.

This is going to be so huge for us. Seems to me that XSF plays well next to Brown and it will be nice to have the ability to run decently to the left side.

Offense is going to get better.

He did what was expected.. being active for the least amount of games while still getting credit for the season. That proves once again what is super obvious..you don't want to play when you don't have guaranteed money left past the current season (the case for Brown I believe). He's still in line for one last decent pay day..this isn't rocket science.

Again, what is most likely to me is that Brown looks better than what we have relatively quick and is rated as a top 10-15 tackle still. His days do appear numbered unless we pay him.

It proves that Duane Brown is an idiot that cost himself 3 million dollars he'll never get back because he was worried he had so little left in the tank he couldn't make it even one more year without completely breaking down.

All the more reason to be happy the Texans didn't give in to his demands and even more reason to take the cap relief of cutting his ass in the off-season.

Or he was worried he might get injured and have that effect on his free agency. Yea injury risk increases with age, but freak accidents happen.

He held out too long and I’m assuming that’s on his agent and Rick smith did the smart thing(won this holdout), but we can’t just assume that he “thinks he doesn’t have much in the tank”. He’s still prob an above average tackle but I don’t fault him for trying to get guaranteed money.

I also don’t see him back here next year unless Deshaun convinces him to stay with a large paycut

I’m glad he’s back... he took a shot for more cash and lost. I think my life will still be okay somehow...
