Clearly Dan smiling is Dan Hilton the long time media manager for the Suns. I solved the puzzle!

I agree with what you're saying, but I think any PG that wants a second shot would be willing to take this on. If nothing else, it's a position for someone that's hungry in my mind.

Qi needs to learn how to rebound, but he does have one clear NBA skill: blocking shots. If he develops just one more NBA skill, he'll earn his spot. I bet he's closer than you think.

There are no available point guards. Just let flash Gordon run the point.

pretty much, only a player like Bobby Brown would want to be in this situation, but we won't play him any way.

Other more talented bigmen will completely destroy Qi. When he plays its normally against 3rd string players at garbage time. I dont see anything he does well other than bring us revenue from China

His offense completely lacks a showing thus far, but I think he can hold his own on defense. He's quick enough to move his feet and that wingspan can't be taught. I bet he blocks a ton of shots in practice.

The main complainants are saying we don't have a backup PG. The same people who thought Morey skimped on one last season (he paid Bev 8mill right??).
Just because both PGs start the game doesn't mean they aren't both PGs. As you say Batman, we need a guy who will ride the pine and play in an emergency situation.

I think those positions are typically filled by players who are still pretty good but now old and interested in contending for a ring.

    Good luck matching salary.

We definitely need to add someone soon, D Jackson is just not ready. I don't get the whole idea that a player wouldn't want to come here because of minutes...any player that would command minutes isn't available. Nelson ended up with the Pelicans, Rondo is going to come back and eat a lot of those minutes. We could still use another guard in our rotation even with Chris Paul.

Keep it simple. Sign a veteran like Toney Douglas and move on.

    Chalmers? Or Norris Cole?

anyhoo @basketballholic I think you were the first to mention him, but the Blazers signed Wade Baldwin to a two-way contract. I apologize if someone already posted that info.

Ah... just saw Nigel Hayes got released a while back too. I liked him in college. And his twittering.

They had to release Jordan Crawford to make room for him. I wonder if that guy is worth a look. He's not a point guard but could be a pace changer and depth for Gordon if need be. He averaged 3 assists per game as a SG so he does move the ball around too. Shot 39% from 3 last year.

Who out there really helps us? I see no one that makes any tangible improvement over the players we have. Nelson was waived, it isn't like everyone was beating his door down.

I don't see how you can question them putting a contending roster after all the moves they made.

Personally I like Jackson, he can guard multiple spots, is both quick and strong, a good defender and can rebound. He isn't a great playmaker at this point but for the most part doesn't need to be.

jarrett jack was out there for the vet minimum a month ago and morey passed. jopat ran down a list of others he passed on as well. as far as questioning contending, if they're worried about the lux tax getting in the way of trying to win every game in a season likely to come down to 1-2 game differential for seeds 2-4, then i think it's a fair enough question.

Jack played 2 games all of last year and none this season. He isn't an NBA player at this point. There really isn't much out there. I suspect that the Rockets haven't seen anyone that excites them. As for the luxury tax, I don't think that is the reason why. If there was a player that would make a tangible difference I am sure they would add him.

Let's just wait and see. I know the Rockets were scouting Craft years ago and have worked him out numerous times over the years. He is a very good defender. However no one in the NBA is knocking down his door to sign him.
